I think that even with his size advantage over Cotto tonight, and with Cotto's Achilles heel punch being the uppercut -the number of time Canelo Landed and you compare it to Mayweather in round 12 against Cotto - wobbled him and Pacman who had cotto on the canvas, kinda makes me feel he is overrated in power. Obviously it isn't a scientific ****ysis - just an observation
Well, he's not considered a ko artist because hes not. Alvarez is big and strong, but not a dynamic puncher like a pac man.
Explain how weak hand Mayweather had Cotto running for life & Alvarez barely managed to get his attention ?
Floyd landed far more flush shots, and in succession. Easy. Floyd does not hit anywhere near as hard Canelo and wouldn't have bothered Cotto if he landed what Canelo landed. Stop it. That said, I don't think Canelo is a murderous puncher. He's got OK power.
Yeah Canelo's power is a bit over rated. He couldn't KO Angulo. Kirkland did. He KO'd Kirkland, but Kirkland was dropped by jabs from feather fisted Ishida so that isn't saying much. He couldn't KO 140 pounder Lovemore N'dou. Couldn't even wobble old Mosely. Just hit Cotto with some nasty looking shots and couldn't make him do the Cotto shuffle. So yeah, his power is over rated.
Well Probably the same reason why Demarcus Corley had cotto doing the two-step, you get caught with the right shot, no matter who its from, you get hurt. And you act like cotto wasn't hurt all by alvarez, go back and look at that 8th round.
He doesn't hit as hard as The Special One Hatton and N'dou both said that and the fights show it. But I think Brook's power is underrated :deal
Canelo hits hard but is more of a guy who will wear you down. A lot of people can't grasp the fact some big punchers are not KO artists. You can be a hard puncher but not necessarily explosive.
Looked to me Cotto was feeling the shots, just a matter of Canelo not being really aggressive with follow ups combined with Cotto being in really really good condition. Canelo has good power, just Cotto was too skilled and too conditioned to stop easily.
