Which is obviously a direct signal to the average simple minded bumpkin that 1 athletic pound doesn't equal 1 normal/trash pound.

He clearly can't make 154 anymore and anything above is basically middleweight. He's most likely going to 160 after this fight which could mean a big PPV against Cotto/Martinez winner.

This is a non title fight. Guys often come in a little overweight for a non title fight. I think there's a good chance he stays at JMW.

I always thought he wasnt gonna be able to make 154 much longer. Hes only getting bigger at 23. Middle weight has to be the next option, dont try and make 154 anymore

like i said, drainelo is already killing himself to get 154.

just look at the size of that head.

the guy averages 40+ punches a round for a 20+ yrs old.

slow as mollases margo at some point throws 70+ a round.

hell, zombie dela hoya against pac, averaged 60+ first 5 rounds.

imagine drainelo at 152, zombier than zomby dela hoya.

pedjr **** resume, jst got shittier.

now fighting a guy whose best win was against a guy featherfisted malignaggi easily outboxed.

    another **** fight.

    and yeah, victor ortiz, really?

Lara should offer canel a fight at 155-156 !Not let Canelo off the hook.

Lara would be a safer fight than moving to 160. Winnable too!

    First things first though!

Yeah, to lose that last pound, Canelo would have had to lose 3-4 pounds of rehydrated weight. I was merely saying it was an expensive pound rhetorically.

This goes to exactly what I was saying regarding Salido the other day. Someone said that had Salido dropped those last two and a half pounds to make weight vs Loma that his rehydrated weight would have only been two and a half pounds lower. To which I replied that those last couple of pounds of dehydrated weight rehydrates to 3-times as much or more on fight night. So had Salido made weight, he would have been 7 or more pounds lighter on fight night.

I will say, as I've said before, at Canelo's height he should be able to comfortably fight at 154 if he trains correctly.

The problem is that Alvarez is too bulky for his frame. He should carry less muscles, he doesn't have fat.
He's only 5'8, he's just building too much.
At middleweights, he would be too short to be competitive.
Unless of course he face Cotto again, but he alredy won him when he was just 19- and Cotto is a midget at middleweights.

Height is overrated. It didn't hold back Tyson, Tua, Qawi, Lamotta, etc.

Canelo is going to lose at middleweight because he isn't all that great, not because he is short for the division.

Floyd doesnt seem to believe so, or why else would he have asked for a catchweight?
