Canelo needs a tuneup? Bivol would fight him right away, not sure why Canelo needs a tuneup. Sounds like he’s hoping Bivop loses and he has a built in excuse to duck him and not give the rematch he promised. He made this clear going into the Zurdo fight. Canelo was praying for a Zurdo victory. It will be another excuse the next time. Bivol should just forget about it and move on. Canelo wants no part of this fight.

Again, what was Yildirims “something noteworthy”?

I just never understood that even if Zurdo did defeat Bivol, how would that take away Canelo's self reasoning to also avenge his loss?

It's not like Canelo could claim that as his victory even if it was vicariously through Zurdo, in fact i think Canelo would prefer to fight Bivol as an undefeated champion so then he would get his full recognition for defeating him in the rematch.

Yep, but Canelo stated that if Bivop lost to Zurdo, the rematch was not going to happen. He’s a coward. Bivol made much less on the first fight with hopes of making more in the rematch. Looks like Canelo is trying to get off the hook with a convenient excuse. Bivol would meet him at 168 and fight for all of Canelo’s belts but that will never be allowed. Canelo knows what would happen

I understand. Although your HW example isn’t really the same is it.

Yes, the tune up is poor. However, his tune up is only due to his wrist operation, and then he wants to try and avenge a defeat to one of the best LHW’s in the world.

    So let him do that.

If he beats Bivol, we may then see a trilogy, or even a fight with Beterbiev.

If not, I really can’t see him fighting again at LHW.

If he loses decisively to Bivol again, his LHW adventure would be over.

Benividas is scheduled to fight Plant.

Are fights that don’t happen ducks?

I’ll agree with you that he’s ducking Benavidas, if Benavidas beats Plant, and Canelo fights again at SMW, but he doesn’t fight him.

    Then it’s a duck.

It can’t be at the moment though.

Bivol has just beaten Ramirez and is one of the LHW kings along with Beterbiev.

So it’s harsh to criticise him for wanting Bivol again, when Bivol is far more proven than Benividas.

I think that he should be commended on fighting a guy who embarrassed him. Many people in that position would just remain at SMW.

I think Canelo should have fought him immediately. Bivol winning easily against Zurdo made Canelo probably less confident.

Yeah i remember Canelo saying that he won't grant Bivol the rematch as if it was Bivol who lost the first time & not the other way around, which was odd but most likely Canelo was making a point as to where Bivol will stand with his Purse if he lost,

As for the titles at 168 that would be interesting, but would Bivol even want to go down that low as it might hinder his performance negatively due to him not fighting at that weight,

With Canelo laying out his plans, that pretty much sums up his yearly schedule, unless he does one rust off match, then take on two high quality comp, which could be doable for him.

You know if Canelo stayed in his weight & fought Benavidez while Bivol stayed put & took on Beterbiev that would end up serving the fans more, plus they could always take one one another down the line or even after they're done with their opposite opponents, that would be a win win.

I would love to see that.

I just don’t see why people are claiming that he’s ducking Benavidas.

We can’t just claim that he’s ducking him, just on the grounds that they’re not fighting yet. And especially if Canelo is taking on more proven fighters.

I’m sure that Canelo will fight Benavidas in the near future.
