Canelo prepping for Golovkin by fighting Chavez JR?

I hope Karma rears its head & somehow Chavez kicks Canelo's ass. Then GGG says Pollo is not in my class shows him the finger & moves on. That would really make my day

 

I think Canelo knocks him out. Junior is a stiff. His best career moment was nearly koing Sergio in the 12th.

 

can't blame canelo for making the fight. the number one goal is to make money. if they get permanently injured, it may be all they have to live on the rest of their life. no fighter is turning down their biggest possible payday, that comes along with an assured victory.

 

That's not a bad career moment to have though. Sergio at that time was the Man at Middleweight. That moment pretty much ended Martinez's career as he was not the same fighter after that beating he took in the 12th.

As far as the topic at hand, yes Canelo is preparing for Golovkin by fighting a bigger guy in Chavez. One of the big criticisms of the Smith fight was that many posters wanted to see Canelo in there with a bigger guy. Well now you get your wish. I like him fighting a guy above 160 because after fighting Chavez, Golovkin will seem small in comparison. That will help Canelo adjust to the additional weight of fighters at MW.

This fight is also personal. A lot of posters have been chiming in about how this is a money grab by Canelo and what not. Well I don't think those posters realize how personal it is between Canelo and Chavez. They have always competed with each other and with them being the two biggest Mexican Names / Stars in boxing well it is natural for them to want to fight.

 

I don't think Triple G can fight how he fought Brook vs Canelo and expect to win. He would know that a Canelo fight would be a lot more technical than the average Triple G fight, and I bet you would see him utilize the jab more to get inside vs Canelo. This is precisely the reason why many of us favor Canelo because Golovkin is not accustomed to fighting a technical fight which you need when you’re in there vs Canelo.

Yes this is a very great test for Canelo, fighting someone of this size. Anyone who says this is an easy fight for Canelo shouldn’t underestimate Chavez. He’ll surely be more motivated for this than his past fights and may just bring his A game vs Canelo.

With Chavez, it’s possible that having to lose a few pounds may actually be just the motivation that Chavez needs. He doesn’t have to train that hard to make 168 or 170, but with the 165 target, he has a real reason to get into the gym and not just hit the punching bag, but he knows he needs to do high level exercises to shed weight. Well that training could produce the best Chavez we’ve seen in years.

 

Good post. Don't agree with everything, but you do raise good points. I'm hoping that Chavez does wake up. He's got to lose the weight or he's going to be stuck fighting in the 175 shark tank forever more.

 

Yeah by draining him to 164.5 when he has not made 168 in years. He has also looked poor for even longer. Canelo took this fight like all his fights for his purse.

 

You do realise Canelo has been made up for life for some time now,Canelo and Oscar have taken this fight not to prepare for GGG because if that were the case theyed have fought at 160 and the opp would have been tune up standard,no this match up allows Oscar and Canelo breathing space in the shape of rematches like Frampton and Cruz cause they know GGG puts down a heat they can't live with.

 

let canelo fight two or more matches against jccjr. golovkin can fight saunders after jacobs. if canelo still will not fight, move up and destroy overrated degale.

 

Chavez does not have the skills that Golovkin has, nor the power.....................

 

That's fair enough but why let's pretend along with Oscar that they want to fight GGG?

 

Canelo is only gaining time to find his new excuse by fighting Chavez.
