Canelo has had over 40 fights...how many fights does he need before he is no longer green. If he is no longer green, when did he reach his prime

If he was in his late 20's, he would be considered prime, since he has already fought so many times. When he faced Mayweather he was 22, obviously still allot of potential to learn :good

He's probably just going to be starting his prime soon.

Barrera who started at 15 began his prime at age 26 against Hamed.

Pacquiao who started at 16 started peaking at around 24 against Barrera.

Margarito started at 16 and began his prime around 24 when he first won the Welterweight title.

I think guys who have more miles on them hit their prime sooner. I think Canelo will be prime in a year or two.

Agreed but don't know if the results will be any different if Canelo fought him again

A full blown middleweight, more experienced version of Canelo can bully Mayweather around and steal rounds, problem is, Canelo is NOT very technical, no point scoring ability, no amateur background etc, it will be more competitive IMO. I would not rule out a middleweight version of Canelo.

No, he wouldn't. Canelo's style and the flaws in it haven't changed since the Floyd fight. He's great at lighting up brawlers but he's terrible against boxers because he's flat-footed, he's more of an "aggressive counterpuncher" rather than an initiator and the technique edge he enjoys against brawler-types is gone against boxers. He doesn't cut the ring off well or generate his own offense off a jab well either. Every fight he's had against a good boxer(Gomez, Trout, Floyd, Lara) he has not looked good. A Floyd rematch would be more of the same with the current Canelo. If he could change up his style between now and then, maybe a different story but unlikely.

He's in his prime right now.
