So ESB do you think canelo pulled out for real because of his injury or because he knew it was a **** fight that should have never been scheduled. discuss

I believe he more likely pulled out partially due to his inury but more due to the fact it was a bad fight for him a bad fight for Clottey and a bad fight for boxing

it was a risky fight for him clottey is no push over

nazim richardson said once "you dont take a clottey fight if you HAVE too you just dont look good against clottey"

he is right its very very hard to look good against him

Clottey is the grandmaster, the grandmaster is too flash for canelo.

I never understood this fight to be honest. I would be ok with Canelo taking a stay busy fight...but Clottey? He's had 3 fights in 4 years. Don't remember what weight the fight was going to be at, but if Canelo didn't care about Lara's belt, he certainly wasn't fighting Clottey for his.

canelo ducked him he knew clottey is a tough fight he could of fought him and had bragging rights saying he beat him worse then cotto himself but he bottled it

Clottey hasn't been relevant in a long time. i didn't see his last fight but if he still fights as defensively as he did against pac then perhaps canelo pulled out mostly from a from a promotional stand point rather then from the skill diffrence (in either direction)?

Very high risk, not great enough reward. Clottey can bang. And he has an impenetrable D. The chances of Canelo looking TERRIBLE in this fight was high. Business move, but clear duck.

so lets assume clottey's an elite level fighter still. Who does he deserve to fight at this point?

He deserves to be in the mix at 154.

I think it was a stupid fight to begin with, GBP probably knew it as well and called it off. I dont think it was a legitimate injury.

Made no sense to fight clottey... fighting a guy who could very well beat canelo who isnt even a top 10 guy at this point. Ducking challengers is inexcusable to me, but this wasnt ducking a challenger, clottey is a complete nobody right now at 154 and needs to get himself ranked in the top 5 by beating contenders.

This fight made no sense. Reminded me of when mosley fought mora... that match had me scratching my head as well in wondering what the matchmakers were thinking.

    Clottey

    vs

    kirkland
    Vanes
    Charlos
    Molina
    Loser of ishe vs lara
    Trout

All the type fights that would make sense for clottey.... though for even some of these guys might be high enough in rating or momentum that they feel they shouldnt need to fight him and it would be justified. Its at least a more realistic group to aim at then canelo.

High risk vs. no reward. His bogus injury claim was an insult to fans, but what else is new in the sport where the fans are taken for suckers.
