But how can he do that when he can't get the fights in the first place?

    It's a vicious circle.

I knew what you were aiming at. And I happen to agree with the spirit of your claim, that Golovkin is the BEST middleweight in the world right now, bar none. :good

But your terminology is still off mark.

He's the "consensus #1" or "consensus best", not "consensus undisputed", as "undisputed" has it's own very specific meaning and is something that is based in fact, without the need for an opinion-based "consensus".

All the same though, most ranking 'authorities' outside the realm of alphabet trinkets have Canelo listed as the official "middleweight champion" - TRBR just being, in my opinion, easily the least biased of said ranking organizations.

I hear fighters get introduced as undisputed when they are recognized as easily the most dominant in the division, even if they're not "technically" undisputed.

It happens all the time with fighter introductions. Here is how Michael Buffer introduced GGG for his last fight, "Universally recongized 160 pound undisputed champion of the world."

Ok? I think it's coming down to semantics or you just trying to pick a bone with me like usual.

Also, if a site has Canelo listed as #1 MW Champion outside the realm of belts and lineal title, then they lose all credibility in my eyes. Impossible to rate someone #1 MW when they've never fought a true MW.

But in terms of WBC and lineal champion, I understand why Canelo would be ranked #1.

It's like I always said, the path to Canelo runs through Sergey Kovalev. He's Canelo's gatekeeper now, and anyone who wants a shot at Canelo is going to have to fight him. #boxing
