That sounds incredibly stupid! Why not take down the weight more progressively, in a less stressfull way?
    This is a self-damaging run...
And, again, who has Saul Alvarez ever fought? At age 23 peoples thinks he should be able to defeat a world champion? A skilled, elusive one? No way on earth....
Alvarez is even unproven, go figure if he is an elite fighter.
    Maybe two years from now.
But as of actually, losing 6 lbs at day three weeks before the fight... what the f**k is he doing?

he probably said 3 lbs. not 3 kgs.

  5. Don't know what the big deal is, he weighed in at 151 for the Matt Hatton fight, wasn't no one emphasizing on his weight then. He weighed 153 for his last fight. So he's doing something he has done for his whole career, lost weight to make weight.

no I watched the workout live. He said kilos, but what a lot of people don't realize is that he's talking about water weight

The body fluctuates +-3kg depending on how hydrated/what time of the day it is.

This is not unique in any sense.

And Floyd would still find a reason to not fight Pacquaio.

^This. If it's up to him, he'll probably train too long and too hard knowing this is the biggest fight of his life, then he'll come in flat and without explosiveness on fight night. His handlers need to make sure that doesn't happen and rein him in some if necessary. Hopefully they have him peaking physically right at fight week.

They would also (re)create other problems that same day weigh-ins were intended to stop.

Essentially Gatti-Gamache scenarios are seen as a lesser evil than Mancini-Kim.

They should have day before weigh ins with rehydration limits of +5lbs.

If you can't come in within 5 lbs, you have no business at that weightclass.

If he means he is sweating out six pounds a day, that's not a big deal. If he is actively trying to cut weight at that rate then his stamina will be non-existent.

Canelo agreed to terms, and if he drains himself he needs to take it out on his team, because that's what you pay them for. I think his trainers half-a** trains him anyway, they focus too much on power, instead of footwork and stamina.

I come into training at 198-199. 2 hours later, and 3 water bottles emptied, I weigh in at 193.

It's not hard to sweat a lot if you train hard and push yourself every step of the way.
