I don't think cotto wants to rematch canelo he isn't calling for one now and he knows he cant win a decision over canelo.I think cotto will have one more fight then retire.
Canelo has earned his spot as the current cash cow by taking on tough opponents in the past. Now he is in a position to dictate terms. Why should he be stripped? It's a middleweight fight. He can't be blamed that fighters like Golovkin are not PPV draws. :yep
I'll be screaming, "HELL YEAH! Khan finally gets his fight with Mayweather and Mayweather finally gets a MW title to confirm, TBE"! :happy:happy
I think Cotto has two more, and the last is against Canelo. No reason for Cotto to pass up one last 8 figure payday against a guy who can't really hurt him. Plus making JayZ some of his money back isn't a bad idea when you have signed multiple business ventures and will depend on him in the future. Too much upside, only downside is another possible UD12. I'm sure it ultimately depends on how he looks and feels in his next fight, but if he cruises to smooth W then no reason not to cash out again with Canelo.
this is a sad day for ggg his stock is taking a dive... even some of his defenders are starting to jump ship and denounce him
I was under the impression canelo got a voluntary fight before defending his mandatory ggg. I never heard the voluntary had to be a mw. I do wonder what this fight is getting canelo prepared for, and still don't know if it's a cw or a mw fight
Mayweather will have another win over an ATG if he beats Khan the lineal middleweight champion of the world.
Yeah, and youve got to remember Canelo was perfectly suited being the 154-lb champ. But after fighting Floyd, Floyd was able to hold on to those titles so for 2 years and Canelo never got a rematch or another 154-lb title shot. Look at it from Canelos perspective, what is he supposed to do while Floyd held the 154-lb division hostage? He took on the MW champ in Cotto. He won a title on Cottos terms. Good for him. The biggest fights out there are probably at 160. A better solution would be for Canelo and Khan to fight for a vacant 154-lb title, but if both fighters agree to 155 and the commission is okay with it, I really dont see a problem with welterweights coming up to meet Canelo at 155. The problem with catchweights in the past have been when fighters have been drained and unhealthy. Thats where catchweights are a problem, not in this case. Khan going up to 155 wont be drained. I dont see a problem here.
