canelo should refuse to weight in on fight night against Mayweather

He's the challenger and you damn well know it. PBF is P4P #1 the face of the sport. If the PBF fight was made PBF would come into the ring last and have his name first. PBF is on the top of the sport and anyone in the world 154 and down would be considered the challenger regardless of what belt or belts they held. Canelo wants to be where PBF is and not the other way around.:deal

 

You're just being silly now - considering Canelo hasn't fought many actual 154 fighters, I'd say they would help him "clean up 154" - not fighting all of them but certainly Lara and 1 or 2 others...

Cotto is a name, but has been a shadow of himself since he made the move to 154 - damaged goods, Trout handled him with ease, not sure how you figure Canelo beating the guy who lost to the guy he just beat (Trout) enhances his legacy but go figure

Let's be real: neither of these guys need each other, and that's why they probably won't ever fight.

Canelo's got plenty of time to build a legacy for himself and become the next face of boxing since he'll still be in his mid 20's when Floyd's gone. He's already a star, and the arrow's still pointing up. As long as he can hold it together outside the ring, the kid's got a very bright future with massive paydays ahead for him.

Floyd can continue fighting Guerrero level competition and pulling up the 140 pounders like Matthysse and still make an absolute fortune every time he steps in the ring. He's already established himself as an ATG, so not facing Canelo won't lessen his legacy. It just won't build up quite as much more fighting the other guys.

Floyd doesn't need Alvarez, and Alvarez doesn't need Floyd.

This thread is stupid. 1st off Floyd showed his weight for nearly every fight up until Oscar. He always showed it. Oscar was basically the only guy in the sport who never showed his weight so in that fight Floyd said he's not going to do it either. Ever since then I think he just doesnt care to do it. There is no conspiracy.

One thing you can do is check his history and you will see there are a million times where his weight is low and 0 times where his weight was high so how can you just assume that he was 160 against JMM? Its dumb. He looked naturally bigger against Ortiz than he was against JMM and he was only 150 for that fight.

Manny Steward hates on Floyd all the time and Nacho had every reason to say that Floyd was over a 160 pounds because it would make JMM's loss look alot better but both of them thought Floyd looked around 152. Now factor that in with him standing next to JMM so you know he looked bigger than what he really was which mean's he's probably lower than 152.

The facts are this. Floyd was 138 on fight night for his LW fights, 143 for his SLW fights, was between 146-148 for all his WW fights until his recent fights. Then was 150 for Ortiz and was 148 a month before the Ghost fight so why would people act like he magically blew up to 160 plus for JMM or any other fight?

It doesnt make sense. I mean the guy was 146 on fight night against Zab at WW while Pac was coming into the ring at 145 for his fights at 130 but you are going to act like Floyd's huge?

By the way, I'm not someone who subscribes to Mayweather ever weighing 160 on fight night. I do believe he hasn't weighed much more than 155 on any fight night, but I also don't believe he came in against Cotto or Marquez at less than 152 or he'd have stepped on the scales...it's important to Mayweather to be seen as a "small guy"

 

Well, When Floyd fought Cotto.. He was the champ at 154.. Floyd wanted the best Cotto so he fought him there..

Now both Canelo and Floyd are champs at 154. Why shouldn't they fight there?
