Boxing routinely brings in around 20 million viewers in Mexico. It's free there. HBO barely has that many subscribers and will generally get around 1 million viewers for boxing. The comparison is not apt. You need to compare their ratings on HBO or pay per view to get an apples to apples type comparison of their relative popularity.
Cotto, Pacquiao, Alvarez, Klitschko are all superstars who generate big numbers. Golovkin might have bridged over on that side after his last fight. And Joshua is likely the next big star. Not much going after those guys.
