Canelo still doesn't want the fight at middleweight, but at 155.

I think each boxing organization has their share of problems. The IBF creates stupid rules like rehydration limits but they enforce those rules, while other boxing organizations doesn’t have rules like that but don’t enforce their own rules?

Last time I checked the WBO appear to be enforcing their rules. As far as the complaints that the WBA and WBC aren’t enforcing their rules, understand that that complaint is regarding NOT applying its rules specifically to Floyd Mayweather.

If the WBC wasn’t applying their rules, then Canelo wouldn’t be under all this pressure to fight GGG this year. The WBC in regard to Floyd however didn't require him to follow their rules and defend the titles at 154. The WBC bended their rules for Floyd, not for anyone else.

The WBO didn’t bend their rules for Floyd, and good for them. The WBA and WBC may have bended their rules for Floyd, that’s worthy of criticism, but at the same time those belts are more prestigious partly because they don’t have stuff like rehydration limits.

Once again, that’s a highly uncommon way to honor a fighter. Granting him Champion Emeritus and honoring him as “champion for life” is fine, but they quite clearly bended their rules for Floyd and allowed him to hold on to a 154-lb title for 2+ years while never defending it. (or “defend” it whilst fighting at 147.. a literal breaking of their rules.. for Floyd)

I’m fine with the organization honoring Floyd for his contributions to boxing. But they could have honored him and still forced him to vacate the 154-lb title in early 2015 for example, when he chose to fight Pacquiao at 147.

That would have, for example, allowed Canelo to have an opportunity to recapture the title that he held prior to 2013. Perhaps the WBC title (Canelo’s former title) that apparently truly is vacated now could be added to the Canelo Smith fight if it were to happen at 154. Can you agree with that? Perhaps that is part of the current Canelo Smith negotiations.

GGG doesn't have much of a choice if he wants the fight. He has little leverage, Canelo has it all on his side. Make the fight happen, no excuses.

Canelo is a fatty, he's the one with choices to make: hire a dietitian and stay at 154 or quit boxing. Of course he could also duck GGG by moving up to 168 :patsch

Canelo will move up when he ready. If he still got some business at 154 first, then that’s what he gonna do like Fight Liam Smith. Now that the WBC 154-lb title is freed up from Floyd, Canelo can recapture that vacant title if were to fight Liam.

I don’t think he ducking GGG. I think that fight is right around the corner. That’s why I hope they do right by him and give him his 154-lb title opportunity in May. That way Canelo can win back his title, and go into GGG with lots of title belts, as it typical of SuperFights.

What I don't get is why only 1 lb above the jmw limit? If he really can't make 154 anymore, wouldn't fighting at 156 or 157 be less controversial and draining?
