I mean...while Beterbiev is a harder puncher than Makabu and Bivol is a superior boxer, we can't really say that someone is ducking two pretty good light heavyweights to face a pretty good cruiser.

 

yes, it happens in every org, in every weight. you could say its the cost of doing business in boxing. so pretending canelo is making his own rules is lame. theres nothing canelo has done that hasnt been done to him, and in all of boxing before him. the man makes the belt, and right now canelo is the best fighter in the world, so any belt he holds, no matter who he got it from, makes it legit because of who YOU got to take it from. nobody is going to accuse you of cherry picking canelo for one of his belts.

 

Well, Canelo's not making his own rules (Except for his 155 division you all loved so much ), but he is the beneficiary OF preferential treatment due to his popularity. I know it's not new, but that has never been a justification for it, being the old 'business as usual' for cash cows. They already get paid a TON more then peers, but they gotta stack decks in their favor? Not really mano-a-mano when sides aren't represented equally.

well of course he is, he provides the sport with the most food. more people get fed because of canelo than any other fighter in the world. why would they cannibalize him? im not debating how it should be, what is right and wrong, or anything like that. im stating what is and what isnt. fighters need to understand what is and what isnt, so they understand what they need to do to overcome what is.
