He shouldn’t have to vacate the title. He won the title fair and square and should have a reasonable amount of time to defend it. He should be able to have his next fight at 154-lb since he is the #1 ranked Jr Middleweight in the World in an attempt to re-capture the titles that Floyd held for 2 years without ever defending at 154.

While he fights at 154-lb next year, until he is ready to move up to Unify the Middleweight division vs GGG, he should be allowed to hold the Lineal Middleweight Title as he re-gains titles at 154-lb.

Then when he decides to defend his Middleweight Title, he will be a dual Title-Holder, at Jr Middleweight and at Middleweight. This is Canelo Era Now! He is the Middleweight Champ Now and can bring his Shiny New Title to the 154-lb Unification Fight next year!

He walks into the ring at a heavier weight than GGG and he has fought the last 3 matches at middleweight.

What are we even talking about here?

If I'm not mistaken, Ginger holds the WBC middleweight (*cough, I mean 155lb belt), while Goodboy holds the WBA, IBO, IBF middleweight belts???
Based on your ideology, Wilder is the man at heavyweight and not Klitschko??? lol

He won a middleweight title by beating a super welterweight..

Titles should not be fought at catch weight period..

Bottom line is he knows the only hope he has of not getting ktfo is to try to wright drain GGG. Otherwise he would stop being a little scared girl and fight at 160..

I agree titles should not be fought at catch weights. That’s why I think Canelo should wait before fighting at 160. He shouldn’t have to defend that MW title until he is ready to go up to 160!

Canelo has never fought above 155 lbs in his life. He is the #1 Jr Middleweight in the World. He should be allowed to hold onto his MW title while he attempts to win his titles back at 154-lb, in preparation for a future fight with GGG.

Understand that Floyd’s 154-lb titles have not been defended for over 2 years! Even if Canelo waits until 2017 to defend that title 160-lb title vs GGG that won’t even be as long as what Floyd did.

    :admin Look behind the curtain...

Canelo's words are coming out of O$CAR's mouth.

O$CAR's trying to control Canelo's next match.

O$CAR's already saying Canelo's now ready to beat Mayweather,
    who's retired.

The WBC has given Canelo 15 days to contract a mandatory match with GGG.

If the WBC sticks to its guns, a decision has to be made in the next two weeks.

I think it will take a bit longer.. but I expect they meet in 2016.

    ;)

I don’t think Canelo has said anything about a catchweight or forcing GGG to come down to fight him. I think the best thing that can happen is that there isn’t a catchweight when Canelo fights GGG.

Wouldn’t you rather wait a year and have the fight be at 160 than have some 157-lb catchweight? I don’t want to see a catchweight for a fight Canelo GGG. I don’t want to see another controversy like Floyd Canelo with a ridiculous catchweight.

At the same time, Canelo is not a 160-lb fighter, so he should be able to continue to fight at 154-lb and gain more titles until he is ready to fight GGG at 160-lb. If he were to beat GGG at 160-lb, then he would hold all the MW titles and would then be defending at MW. Until then it is in his interest to stay at 154-lb where he is ranked #1. WBC should allow him to remain MW Champ during this time without having to defend it, which was what they allowed Floyd to do at 147/154 since 2013.

Triple G should cave to some of his demands to actually get a big fight. Canelo will be by far the best opponent he has ever faced. Triple G needs Canelo to elevate his status and popularity. Canelo doesn't need Triple G. People may not like it but it's reality. Then the Irish Terminator will flatten Triple Duck's ass..:yep

people need to quit the whining about this

people need to accept the way things are and tell mr "anyone from 154" to do what he has to in order to make a big fight

he needs to accept fate and the way things turned out...maybe had he got to his spot faster this wouldnt have happened....as it is...it took ggg some time to make his presence felt and in that time the division got taken over by welter/jr middles...it just is what it is.....sack up and accept what you have to do

It doesn't matter if Canelo has never fought at 160. The pertinent thing in the Canelo v GGG fight is that they both enter the ring at the same weight, therefore, they are of equal size. Canelo is a big LMW and GGG is an anverage sized MW. They are equal. Canelo has the 160 belt so fight at 160.

Canelo doing anything different is actually admitting that he is not confident at beating GGG at 160. Also, anyone backing a proposed catchweight fight for a world title is helping to make boxing into an even messier sport than it already is.

Thats what boxing needs, fans accepting the bull**** that promoters and fighters pull that ruins this sport.
