Because when they were PPV stars is completely relevant. What is relevant is the drawing power of both guys NOW. They're comparable w/ Pac edging it because he does similar numbers without HBO backing, big budgeting advertising, fighting on a Mexican holiday, etc..
Age has nothing to do with anything. What matters is NOW. Pacquiao-Vargas trounced Canelo-Smith despite Canelo having HBO's backing and fighting on a Mexican holiday.
Canelo just did 1 mil At $50 mil he's taking a pay cut to make the fight with GG possible What a warrior
What does "trounced" mean to you? Both those cards did about the same and Pac was fighting a better known fighter. What matters is now is correct. Canelo/Chavez probably did over 500K and Canelo's next fight will probably reach the 1 mil Mark. Nobody seems to be giving a crap about Pac's next fight. You need to get out of Fantasy Island.
Anyone here who thinks Canelo only going to make ONLY $50m is silly he just earnt $40m against Chavez. Remember when Mayweather fought Canelo he made $85m and Canelo around $12-13m. I expect the fight to do similar figures or maybe slightly less but either way I reckon there will be an estimated $85-90m or so in the pot. which will mean Canelo walks away with $70m atleast and Golovkin $17.5m +
You think this fight is going to sell 2.4 million PPV buys? That is what would have to happen for Canelo to make 50 mil.
Once upon a time Oscar was a boxer himself. He always does right for fighters. Golovkin is worth 8 million, but Oscar is just a giver.
