Update: so Floyd-Canelo is signed, and guess who's on board for the biggest fight of the year.

    Canelo 1
    WBC 0

What is this latest **** corrupt mob organization WBC is pulling? They recognize several champion in one division (full, interim, diamond, emeritus), one in two divisions (Mayweather) but you can't hold on to 2 different ABC belts at one time? Since when?

Isn't there any way, any organization or court where this corrupt **** can be stopped and the sport cleaned up?

It’s just an attempt from them to monopolize the championships. If you wanna’ be one of their champs, you better not think about fighting for another belt. Which, of course, is another blow to the sport, because it just creates more barriers when it comes to making the best fight the best.

I think it's because after all the **** they pulled in the past, their belts are still concidered to be the most respected.
They have to find something to be released of that top spot, and with the WBA's multiple champions and dodgy rankings, the IBF's ways to get doping offenders of the hook and the WBO's extremely unworthy challengerlists it's hard to drop even to #2.

So they had to come up with something radical, and this might just be it.

BTW I don't think there is an actual legal way for them to have a ****ing say what other belts do you hold at other organizations. None.

It benefits the organisations to have their champion being just their champion. They're more beholden to the organisation that way, stripped of the belt they're in the wilderness again in all but established stars cases, if they hold multiple belts the boxer is in a stronger position. I also believe organisations can only take a certain % from a fighter for sanctioning a fight, and that gets divided between multiple bodies if there's multiple belts on the line, if yours is the only belt you get the full fee.

    WBC forbids unifications

but have no problem putting Juan Carlos Gomez in its 4 man tourney to decide a mandatory. he has 3 fights in 2 years against guys ranked over 100 and lost 1 of those 3.
gotta love their logic on whats good for boxing

    Good on Canelo.

It's a joke he can't hold 2 belts, fighters should be trying to collect them all.
I thought that was the whole point of boxing.

Cinnamon beat the fat man curse, he's gonna beat the World Boxing Curse too. :deal

No but really, Canelo is the most popular boxer since Chavez in Mexico, he's PacMan-like. Will Sulaiman **** with the wrong Mexican and **** himself in the ass in the process? "Be my guest" is Canelo's reaction I think, who should let the WBC strip him just to laugh in Jose's face in a lawsuit.

If fighters really wanted to prove they are the best (that's a big "if" ) then couldn't they just say "**** the belts altogether" and tell the promoters to set things up?

WTF does it matter if you're fighting for a belt? Arum arranges for #1 and #2 to fight each other, he gets the venue lined up, the networks on-board, the fighters & managers signed, and away we go....

**** the organizations, and NO SANCTIONING FEES.

The fans will know who won, and who is champion.

(it seems simple, in theory. )

Belts don't mean **** anymore. When everyone knows who's top dog in a division it doesn't matter.
