Lol Benavidez ripped him on that Instagram post. Man if this fight happens it will be the modern day Frazier vs Ali, both in scope and animosity between both fighters.

Whether it's Clenelo vs Benavidez, Crawford vs Super Boots, or Jon Jones vs Tom Aspinall, the king must defend his throne

"Mate, as I said, I am, I see myself as the number one. The number one is the king, and somebody challenges the king's throne, it will be defended. I will defend my throne."

The king must defend his throne''

    --Tom Aspinall

As with Saul and Terry, Jon doesn't want that smoke

Shameful behaviour from these champs. The king must defend his throne

But onto more important matters. Clenelo is going to need to book himself another orangutan hair transplant very soon

It has everything to do with it, sissy

For the record I don't think it's possible for any fight to do 2mil ppvs in this era....but, IF it was sure to sell that much why would 150 mil plus be ridiculous to ask for when a guy who's own fans agree he isn't box office is the opponent to the closest thing to a boxing Rockstar right now? Makes zero sense. And let's be completely real with ourselves here. It's really not about Benavidez at all, he's just the latest name to plug in a dusty old spot. This is about Canelo and his Fandom and haters, And of course his money generating ability. If Canelo dropped all the titles tomorrow David would still want the fight and we'd still want to see it. That's how much, or how little rankings and contender status matter.

If the fight sold 2m, Canelo would get paid that very amount based on the revenue from the fight. Canelo is asking for the money upfront though; he wants someone to take the chance and pay him 150-200 mil without himself taking the chance that he might get "only" 75-80 million... for fighting a mandatory that he should've fought a long time ago. If it doesn't sell, Canelo has no right to demand 200 million and he gets paid based on how well the fight did.

    Is this not fair?

I see that you are clearly in denial about Benavidez. He isn't the "latest" anything. This fight was being talked about from the moment Canelo moved up to the dvision where Benavidez had just gotten stripped of his title.

Naturally, Canelo would fight him after unifying, right? Naturally, he would fight him after DB became the interim champ, right? Well... Canelo will definitely fight him after he was officially made the mandatory, right?

    Wrong.

At every opportunity to make this fight, Canelo has avoided it. There is one guy interested in cashing out with this fight. ONE. And it is the guy asking for 200 million.

Can't we at least agree on that?

Benavidez was ready to take this fight for a bag of skittles if it meant he could prove himself as the best 168lber in the world and the best Mexican fighter of this era.

This was supposed to be just another very good fight, but Canelo's avoidance has made it into something else entirely. That's all on him, not on some hater's agenda nonsense that you are spewing here.

Why are we questioning Canelo demanding 150 mil when Fury is getting more than 100 mil easy to fight Usyk? He's not even close to the draw Canelo is and hes danced around the Usyk fight for around the same amount of time. There's no way you can watch Fury get a purse like that and be upset at Canelo at least attempting to get it.

Knowing what we know about the modren boxing game, that rankings are for show and that mandatories get kicked around like cans all the time...Answer me this: what has Benavidez done to warrant this amount of fuss besides be the only realistic chance to see Canelo lose a fight? I'm not even sure he has fans rather than Canelo haters latching on to him, that would explain him being unable to sell fights as a standalone product despite reportedly so much demand. It's the Mayweather effect all over again. But I've been getting a little too deep into the meta of this fight apparently when you can't see past "he earned it!" train of thought.

You are still arguing from both sides of your mouth. Either the Benavidez fight is a draw worthy of Canelo's asking price or it isn't. I don't see Canelo asking the Saudis to pay him to fight Munguia; do you?

You didn't address my post but ok. Benavidez is only a draw as Canelos opponent, that should tell you everything you need to know. His next fight is on Tanks undercard ffs.

Dude, none of that realy matters. Canelo is not only fighting top draws, is he? And if that's not the case, then what does it matter Benavidez is not one either? Mungis isn't. Charlo wasn't. Ryder wasn't.

People just want Canelo to lose. They don't give a fk about Benavidez.
Canelo knows that and will never give you that fight now.
Just like Andrade. It's all a payday. That's what Benavidez wants. It's definitely not the belts. He had them twice and lost them to cake and coke.

Payday is what all fighters want, even Canelo. Or can you show any fights he fought for free?

This is stupid. The clear top contender wants the guy in his division holding the belts. And fans want the best fights, as always. Take your simple a$$ outta here....

As an answer to what I was asked in the previous post it absolutely matters. Benavidez got lucky enough to hitch a ride on the hater elevator. We've seen this before 1000 times with Floyd's career outside of the demand for the Pac fight, he actually had a fan base and was doing good numbers of his own for the most part. We fans absolutely have a vote in boxing. With our pockets and so far they have said nobody wants to see David fight enough to pay for it. They just moved his next fight to an undercard bout.
