A boxing champion should be decided in a contest between the top two ranked boxers in that weight class with the legitimate winner of that contest being declared the true champion& NOT the diva who the state commission& Vegas boxing call their cash cow because he makes them the big $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ THAT is CORRUPTION!!!!!!!!!! my friend nothing more nothing less

I'm just stating the obvious. I used to be angry at the sport like you but honestly once I realized the way things are won't change I just updated my outlook on how and why things happen outside the ropes. I can't aid, abet, or change boxing I'm just one man with a wallet. You can angry post thousands of times in all caps and exclamations but it won't change a thing and it hasn't so far. The system of rankings, resumes and mandatories still work for all but the top 1% of the sport, they just happen to be the ones with the most eyeballs. I know what it used to be, is supposed to be, and what it is. Only one of the 3 exist in 2024.

It's certainly not a fairytale that Benavidez is a former 2x champ, current interim champ, beats all of his opponents into a bloody heap, and is the fight that fans, legends, and current fighters are calling for.

If this was all based on a fairytale, Canelo wouldn't be asking for 200 million.

If it wasn't a fairy tale Benavidez would have gotten his fight however long ago you believe it should have happened, Beterbiev and Bivol wouldn't have wasted half a decade, joshua and wilder would have clashed far before either man lost. All of 135 and 140 would have seen each other in the ring already. Need I go on?

You can go on, but what you are saying is irrelevant to the fight in question. If rankings are a mere fairytale, Canelo needn't engage in corruption to hold on to his rank as WBC champ.

Rankings become fairytales only when the champ actively ducks the guy he is supposed to fight. Not every champ can hold belts hostage like Canelo can; he's playing by his own rules.

Terence Crawford was basically stripped of his undisputed title on the flight home from the Spence fight.

Bivol could have fought Beterbiev sooner if he'd wanted, but profited from calling himself a champ.

The guys at 135-140 are jumping weights and dropping titles to avoid each other, not denying contenders title opportunities. Even Floyd stuck to 1-2 titles and moved weights to fight who he wanted. Other fighters were allowed to eat. Canelo simply says, "ni hablar" and the sanctioning bodies look the other way while a guy -an undefeated former champ- is stuck holding an interim title for going on three years.

This is unprecedented. I am sorry you cannot see that.

Agree. I think Canelo is trying to find the highest bidder and DB might have helped by pleading to the Saudi prince. Canelo isn't afraid of fighting anyone, but waiting for that last big pay day which he can only get by fighting DB. He's fighting Mungia just to keep active and not be rusty along with that beer money paycheck...lol
