Guess it depends on the particular fighter. I've got as many questions and wonders as you do. This extreme weight cutting/boil down culture in boxing right now and really since they threw out the same day weigh-in is some grotesque stuff though man. Has to be damaging in some form or fashion to your body. Ideally, you'd want to follow Floyd's example but they've got this rehydration **** down to a science and most fighters aren't skilled enough to overcome the type of weight disadvantages he does. They can't afford to fall behind on the times.

I think Canelo had a good camp. He was in training for a long time, looked ridiculously shredded before the fight, and obviously did his technical homework on Trout. In general, I think Saul takes his training seriously, unlike Chavez Jr.

He's either outgrowing the weight class or intentionally put on more weight to make it more difficult for Trout to try and muscle him around if he tried to go that route in the fight.

Either way, his weigh-in weight for his next encounter if it's not against Mayweather will tell us for sure which is the correct answer.

So if they did a re-hydration clause of 165 would you be fine with it? Normally i'm opposed to such things but it might make sense here.

I think the fight should be at 154 but this is bad logic. Hearns has a height and reach adv over Tyson. Would that be a fair fight?

Same logic was used to say Guerrero was bigger, and may was the poor little man facing giant killers.

I'm just applying the same logic and using it against *****tards

Josesito Lopez weight more then canelo on fight night and was much taller, I guess jlo was bigger too.

Cone on now, Guerrero was a light weight 2 fights before may.

canelo would look like vinnie paz fighting at 160-168 against guys 7 or 8 inches taller than him. with a average of about 8 belts they consider "world titles" these days, he probably could get one at 160 against someone....but a 168 he would be too damn short and get his little ears boxed off regularly

yeah, soft, love handles, now power, no nothing....being heavy means nothing if its not natural. yeah he was heavier...by eating and sitting on the couch alot...that was no advantage

I acually have no problem with someone putting his foot down.
If you nearly weigh 20 pounds over the limit you shouldn't be fighting at that weight. Simple as that really.

Come on guys it's 20 pounds over the limit.

This was my guess. I found it interesting that they were both basically the same. I'm thinking he knew Trout was a big dude and packed on some extra weight. We'll see.

its not over the limit dummy. the limit is 154 at the weigh in. its been that ****ing way FOREVER...... floyd has a belt in that division and its beyond the realm of pussiness to not fight a guy in your own division that you were even ranked #1 over for the last year :rofl
yeah canelo is to big at 154...so let me fight danny garcia or amir khan, the whos who of the division BELOW me :rofl

guys coming off back to back losses shouldnt be given title shots like cotto...
the WBA shouldnt have 3 world champions per division
there shouldnt be 8 titles per weight division
so rehydrating is a part of the sport just like all the above mentioned...it comes with the territory
