This has probably been done before but I was interested to see who everyone thought won the first fight. I have watched the fight twice and first time I thought it was a draw, second time I thought it was a canelo win, 7-5. Don't really understand the outrage at the draw as it was a tight fight but seems like a lot of ppl feel ggg won clearly.

    GGG won it for me

I do think he has slipped a bit on where he was a couple of years ago but see him getting the job done on Saturday

Rooting for GGG, thought he won the first, but as much as it pains me to admit; I have to pick Canelo.

I just think this fight is coming at the perfect time for him, GGG is a 36 YO pressure fighter (a style notorious for having a steep drop off) that has fought one complete round in the last 12 months, against a Vanes severely lacking any form or momentum. I just don't think that bodes well for a guy looking to stave off Father Time and wind back the clock.

I also think Canelo is the more versatile boxer (which is almost always an advantage in a rematch) and goes into the fight knowing that he has the counter punching ability to comfortably out score GGG if he can just increase his output and work rate. On the other hand; there's only one improvement I can see GGG making, and that's going to the body more to further weaken Canelo's stamina and eventually grind him down. Unfortunately I believe Canelo is defensively savvy enough to outlast such a body oriented attack, and such an approach will also create more opportunities for Canelo's eye catching counters upstairs

Add in the likelihood that most swing rounds will go Canelo's way (of which we will be guaranteed a decent handful in such a momentous and competitive fight) and I just can't really see past a competitive, but ultimately non-controversial Canelo UD.

Sincerely hope I'm wrong and Canelo allows himself to get jabbed from rope to rope under the pressure, but that's my heart talking, not my noggin.

Looks like the majority thought ggg won. Maybe I need to re-evaluate my scoring of fights in the future.

depends how you weigh boxing, if u prefer offensive, 3G shaded it by fraction. if you prefer defense or mix balance of defense/offense, it felt equal.
