Seeing that Canelo obviously doesn't want to fight Benavidez in my opinion Janibek would be his next biggest challenge. I know it is not likely to happen because outside of the hard cores Janibek is not very well known.

I was ringside for Janibek's last fight against Mikhailovich and I was very impressed with what I saw you notice more subtleties when you are up close live. Janibek moves very well and has great timing. I know that Mikhailovich is unknown but he is a skilled awkward fighter and had a good amatuer background Janibek just took him apart. Janibek has good power I could really hear the thud in his punches from ringside and I could see that Mikhailovich was badly concussed after the second round.

I give him a good chance against Canelo who is now past his prime. I really hope that Turki scoops up Janibek as it would be great to see him in some big fights.

After Charlo and Crawford I expect Canelo will pull up another guy from 154 while talking about his "daring to be great" approach to boxing.

    Fundora maybe?

Yeah I don't think that Canelo is planning on facing anybody who is a series threat for the rest of his career which is a shame because I think that Canelo v Janibek would be a technically good fight.

Canelo at his prime would certainly be favourite over Janibek but I have no confidence that he hasn't faded too much, and even less confidence that he is up for the challenge. Canelo is effectively retired in my opinion.

I mean I get bashing Canelo for missing Benavidez but he's also made a point to say he wants Bivol rematch...who may be the single most dangerous opponent today...

Scully is a unification and Crawford a payday being pushed by Turki. Bivol supposedly afterward...a lot can change by then but we'll see. Canelo leaving PBC is best thing for his career imho

One of them fights where Canelo sees this as high-risk, low-reward.

Taking the Mayweather route when it was at its worst, and he doesn't even have an '0' to protect lol. Absolute diva.

Not much of Canelo fan, but I think he wins against Janibek. Bek hasn't shown much improvement after his boogeyman label.

Janibek is all about the size advantage. He is hospitalizing himself to make 160 instead of moving up to 168. He pose no threat at all to Canelo.

I don't deny that Canelo can and should win. Just not at all convinced Canelo is in the right headspace for any type of challenge whatsoever.

The problem is he should have already faced Benavidez. Also Bivol was open to the rematch but at SMW and Canelo said no.

Janibek needs to prove himself at MW first.

If he fights the winner of Sheeraz v Adames on the undercard of Canelo v Crawford in Saudi, he might well get the fight.

SMW is a bit of a wasteland now. If Canelo isn't fighting Benavidez, Mbilli or Janibek are the best options.

Crawford, ridiculous fight, but i don't begrudge a man bowing to Turki in the current landscape of boxing.

Yep that would be great to see Janibek fight the winner of Sheeraz Adames and become a part of Riyadh Season.
You are right about SMW being a wasteland that is why I made the thread because I believe Janibek would be a tougher challenge to Canelo than any of the other current crop at SMW.
