300 000 and over are good in my eyes and probably something GBP was expecting.
I do believe that they have accounted for such numbers because he will be headlining another PPV this year and you know that people will not buy a PPV so often.

I do think that under 300, while not a flop is considered a let down.

And 275 000 buys is about 15 million dollars. You can add to that sponsors, the gate and foreign TV rights plus other revenues like reruns.

The thing with Canelo is that his purses are not too big so GBP wont take a hit even if the PPV flops.

I still dont see how Canelo is a bigger draw than Cotto.

LOL. You in Miami and you don't know that black people as well as Cubans consider black Cubans, black. :yep

I expect Canelo - Cotto will do 500-600k.

Does anyone think the language barrier played any part of the promotion in the fights? seeing how none of them spoke English on the All Access just a thought it makes it a bit difficult for the American public to understand what they are saying since its always subtitles

Probably not. From Cali to Texas to Florida, There are a hell of a lot of Hispanics in the US.

So he has done 300 K in consecutive fights now (I think he did 300 K vs. Angulo? Correct me if wrong). Just goes to show the drawing power of a B-side in the highest money fight ever, 2.2 M, before the Angulo and Lara fights.

The problem was Lara, no one outside the boxing community knows who he is.

Canelo has not reached the point where casuals will buy his fights no matter who his opponent is.

Actually no one knew who Canelo was before the Mayeather fight. It appears that one fight with Mayweather doesn't automatically make one a PPV megastar.
In the future due to his fight and rematch with Mayweather, Maidana may end up being a bigger star than Canelo.

Some of you are acting like you forgot Lara was boring before he fought Canelo.

No one with any common sense expected this card to do much better than Canelo/Angulo.

Everyone knew Canelo would be tracking down Lara for 12 rds. Mexicans aren't into that, and neither the majority of paying fans. This is a big part of the reason GBP did not want this fight for Canelo, dangerous and not a big payoff anyway. That's why neither were guaranteed much.

I was expecting close to 500k. It was a strong card and Lara was a legit threat. I do think the high number of ppv events hurt.

Expectedly low numbers. Both Mayweather & Pacquiao is going to see some lousy numbers this fall as well.

People are getting to tired of paying $75 for a PPV. You can fool them a couple times before people start to wise up.

    And let's be honest here.

This fight should have NEVER been on PPV. It's an insult to boxing fans. Should have been on regular Showtime.
