You can't compare Canelo to Vargas. Canelo is a much smarter fighter in the ring.

You see, Canelo may be smarter in the sense that Terry Norris was smarter than Julian Jackson.

This still ends in the same manner as Terry Norris-Julian Jackson, with Canelo ripped the **** apart.

Vargas beat Quartey and Winky before he faced Tito and if he had poor stamina, there's no way in the world he'd have made it to round 12 in that fight. He recovered from a couple of savage knockdowns and was torn up from round 8 onwards. That he made it as far as he did is a testament to his stamina.

Vargas also forced the last few rounds against Winky. He was an excellent, well-rounded fighter at a very young age and that shouldn't be forgotten.

...and while Canelo may go on to prove himself worthy of mention alongside the meteoric career of Vargas (or even surpass it) - he is yet to do so as of now...and it's hard to pick any version of him we've seen in a h2h fantasy match-up if you look back at Vargas at his very best.

Vargas is probably better H2H right now, but Canelo is much more intelligent than Vargas. Had Canelo been knocked down by Trinidad, he would have taken the full 8 count instead of quickly rising.

Canelo would not have lasted as long with Trinidad as Vargas did. Even if he is smarter.

How many fights had Vargas had compared to Canelo also? What do you think would have happened to Canelo if he was put in the ring with a prime Trinidad after so few fights?

Canelo is still got a long career ahead of him. So far from what i have seen i'm impressed. Smart fighter, strong, hard hitting and solid defense. His main weakness is that he have a 8 round gas tank.

IMO Canelo can definitely hang with the likes of Oscar, Trinidad. I don't know if he will beat them prime for prime against those two but i think he beats Vargas without much doubt.

I don't see it. People are saying that Canelo is still a little green with 43 fights. I don't see nothing in Canelo that makes me think he would ever beat Vargas prime for prime. And if Canelo had been put in the ring with a prime Trinidad with as many fights as Vargas had had at the time, then Canelo would not be around.

I think Canelo would have lasted longer than Vargas did. Vargas was not trying to survive in the fight, he was still trying to stay on the inside with Trinidad despite being badly hurt. Canelo would have realized that he has to clinch and run to survive and would have done so similar to Chavez-Camacho.
