Canelo = Vargas

Disagree. Canelo has had about twice as many fights by now as Vargas did when they started throwing "El Feroz" in with guys like Quartey & Trinidad, and those guys were monster punchers, Floyd isn't............ if Canelo isn't ready by now I don't see when he would be.

I think it would be a good one...we saw Vargas Ceiling, we still may have not seen canelos.. currently I think if both were heading into this fight the one that fought trinidad and the one that fought trout.. I would favor vargas...no doubt.

But Vargas was a drug cheat :bart Canelo is not.

 

Also Trinidad at 154 or DLH at 154 is tougher then Mayweather.

All Canelo has to worry about is getting frsutarated..

vargas had to worry about getting laid out with the power those 2 guys carried.

 

I've made comparisons with him and Vargas before, but I don't think Canelo will end up being burnt out like that.

Yeah he's young & been in a lot of fights already, but how many of them were punishing fights? Vargas going in with De La Hoya, Trinidad etc they were punishing fights. Going in against Mayweather, he's more in line to get out thought and be out boxed rather than taking big shot after big shot.

 

Vargas was a FAT guy who struggled to melt down between fights.
This led to his quick downfall as a prize fighter.

 

Prime El Feroz too much for Canelo imo. The guy was just put in with killers far far too early. Well managed he should have been seen as twice the fighter Cotto ended up being recognised and I like Miguel.

 

Vargas would TKO Canelo unless we're talking about now as he'd rather get into a drinking contest with him

 

Fernando Vargas was good he just got beat down by chito Trinidad's cast wraps which he never recovered from. Same with David Reid and joppy.

 

Vargas was ruined by the illegal wraps of Trinidad! He wasn't the same after.

To the ****** thread starter who clearly never watched a Vargas fight in his life. No stamina? You're kidding, right? He probably throws nearly double the punches Canelo tosses each fight. Pretty sure Vargas tossed like, 99 punches in round 11 or 12 in the Wright fight, cause he could dig deep when needed. I don't have punch stat numbers in front of me but he definitely tossed a lot of punches. More than Canelo at least.

The Vargas hate around here is disgusting. But those haters won't admit that they watched EVERY fight he was in back in his time. Dude was always in a good fight.

EDIT: Found stats from the Quartey fight. He threw 909 punches. When has Canelo ever done that? LOL. And the TS is going to say Vargas has poor stamina. Please.

I think if there's a poster in Canelo's office of the one guy they're trying hardest NOT to be,it's Feroz.

And for the record,Feroz's conditioning was just fine.What sort of competition had Canelo faced 25 fights in?
