With all the tech companies going belly up right now, I'll be surprised if Dazn is still a company by the end of the year.

In all honesty it wasn't a great fight in an oversaturated ppv market

IIRC it was on public television for people to watch in Mex. While PPV were low, I'm betting live viewership was millions in Mexico, as this really was advertised as something for the Mexican fans.

In the USA boxing is near non existent no matter what crap espn says or if it’s trending on twitter, USA has no boxing superstars right now.

I agree boxing is so slow and dying in the US. Theft is another big reason for declining PPV sales. A huge and growing problem

Shouldn't have been PPV in the first place. Ryder is practically unknown in the US and there was very low interest unless you are a hardcore fan. It was basically a homecoming for Canelo & they focused on live gate and Mexico in general. I don't know if they'll try PPV in the fall again but what sells is 100% USDA Angus Grade A Beef and national or ethnic rivalries. Showtime did the pre-fight documentaries and put them on for free on youtube, which had millions of views and helped educate fans and sell the fight.

Why paying for a fighter to whom they give the victory even when he loses? Plus, maybe most of the fans weren't excited about Ryder and rightfully - very boring fight.

If he was fighting Charlo, Benavidez etc than the opponents he has been like Bivol, GGG, Ryder not to say that the Americans are better but I think they'd sell much better.

Fight wasn’t promoted. Haney-Loma can do as much/better PPV numbers.

Juan Ryder had 5 losses on his ledger going into the fight and is only known to the hardcores over there. Granted, most of those losses were robberies though.

If Juan Ryder was from the US instead of the tiny majestic isle of Great Britain he would arguably be their second best H2H SMW. Benavidez is ranked #1 and rightfully so and Boo Boo and Plant #2 and #3 respectively but would Boo Boo and Plant beat Juan? Many would reflexively pick Boo Boo and Plant but realistically those would be 50-50 fights to more enlightened and knowledgeable fans like myself.

Deontay Wilder had everything to be a huge star in the US, but he's C or D tier in terms of athlete public awareness due to where boxing falls right now in the American sports hierarchy.

Boo Boo is an idiot, but he beats Ryder without any problem.
