Agree this. Canelo could beat both 1987 Leonard and 1987 Hagler but Hagler's pressure style still a problem for Canelo. Definitely harder fight than Leonard for ginger imo.
Not really a fair match up for Hagler as he had slipped quite a bit after the war with Mugabi. But this would be the only version of Hagler Canelo would go near, prime Hagler ko's him inside 10
This. It was the hardest fight of Marvins career imo. People forget that mugabi was a different animal the night he fought Hagler, that fight took a lot out of both. It wasn’t until the end that Marvin comeout on top, he was taking hard fast counters off the beast whenever he threw
The only reason Leonard fought Hagler was he knew father time had caught up to him. Canelo is a modern Leonard, takes advantage of anything he can and waits for the perfect time to fight people
I think you're right about Mugabi being Hagler's toughest fight, he took far more bombs than he did with Vito in his two fights with him and the Hearns fight was over in about 8 minutes. I can't recall any other fight where Hagler's face was as swelled up as this one
Hagler slipped after having a war with a jr middleweight but he would be too much for prime super middleweight Canelo to even be competitive. Okay. This is why I think Hagler is very overrated.
Canelo would beat this Hagler. These polls always favor the classic fighter and for no good reason. You could put AJ vs 80s Ali and people would still vote for Ali
LOL Hagler would body this cherrypicking fake Mexican. Even this faded one The last person who came to win who stood a chance was Golovkin and he was 35/6. Canelo would find a way to stack the deck in his favour ie some form of draining Hagler, no hard punches only pitty patter cake, let Canelo plod towards you and throw punches. So we would never see a real fight anyway Canelo is just a fake fraud, he's tainting boxing by the dumbasses who hold him up as the face of boxing
