Saunders and Smith have been highly touted. It wasn't until Canelo signed to fight them that they became bums suddenly.

Today's version of Canelo would not struggle as much with Lara. Canelo's timing and punch selection since then has improved incredibly. His style has also improved significantly. He used to lure his opponents in to counter punch them by walking back, even all the way to the ropes, which caused him trouble against runners, or he used to follow his opponents around the ring, now he lures his opponents in by walking towards them slowly, and keeping close, which allows him to counter them.

Saunders didn't even use his excellent footwork because it was pointless since Canelo wasn't chasing him down, Canelo was there to be hit, the problem is that Canelo has excellent defense that is made up of head and waist movement, and parrying.

Maybe from the Brit-tards and noted Saunders superfans (coughCST80cough) but most people around here predicted one-sided (and well-deserved) Canelo beatdowns...which is what happened.

But please point out by name everyone who praised Callum Smith as the second coming of Joe Louis or whatever, so I know to pay them no mind. At least Saunders was a good middleweight, Callum's best wins are a gift against John Ryder and a one-armed past-it Groves.

LOL And if Canelo never fought them, they would claim he ducked.

Not Canelo's fault that Beterviev languished in the amateurs til he was almost 30 years old. Maybe Artur should have grown a pair a little earlier. He could have taken the beating 5 years ago and still had some career left.

On topic: these fights would get me back on the Canelo bandwagon. I think he wins both.

He can outbox Beterbiev but no way can he overpower him.

Point out who said people compared Smith to Louis. All I said was that Smith was highly regarded as the #1 SMW and King of 168.

    You are casual Canelo fan.
Looks that his fans easily are buying any narrative.
One from most laughable narratives in forums are claims that Canelo was inexperienced when he fought vs 36 y.o Floyd Jr.

Next fun: Canelo was capable to beat top LHW guys after he beated cherry picked Kovalev.
If so, then why he moved down in weight class after this fight?

Now yeah, dudes like you even might post that Beterbiev did not had a pair of......

Congratulations, Canelo here does have nice fanbase.
You are so sure that Canelo might had beated up 31 y.o Beterbiev?
Typical Canelo fan, Canelo even was not able to beat 160 lber in GGG and I laugh at Canelo fans, score cards and in general, boxing forums posts are cool fan.

No, Canelo is obviously not as big as Beterbiev, but I do think he has a better shot and knocking Beterbiev out than he does Bivol.

    Beterbiev has a sturdy chin.

    Gvozdyk could not budge him.

    Dienses threw everything at him.

Callum Smith is a ferocious puncher and only buzzed him slightly. Beterbiev finished that 2nd round stronger.

Father Time will stop Beterbiev. Not Canelo.

Ofc, Eleider had already handled out brutal beatup on Kovalev, stopped him. Yarde fight too was nightmare for Kovalev.

    Yeah.
Yeah and short notice, clauses etc things.

Ohh, Beterbiev then was not enough old ( not enough old for clen to pick up ).
Gvozdyk actually was powerful for LHW division dude who was more boxer than a puncher and still had heavy hands.
He outboxed Beterbiev and looks that might had won if fight had ended on cards. Beterbiev just appeared too strong for him and gradually damaged G until achieved stoppage.

People have been saying Beterbiev is on the decline for a while now. Beterbiev would be a great fight even if he's not prime. However if he fights Bivol, which I don't believe he will, then he gets major respect from me.
