Bet every farm (down to every last cow) in every oblast in every former USSR constituent on Beterbiev. Canelo has maybe a one percent of a single percent of a puncher's chance. Maybe.
BS The odds are definitely on Beterbiev's side and he MIGHT win by KO but this would be closer than some here are implying.
Canelo would have to land the mother of all counter punchers and early on Beterbiev to have any chance..... ...and by "mother of all counters" I mean one of those .50 Cal assault weapons that El Menchos sicarios walk around with. Canelo needs to stay at 168lbs. He's also on the decline of his career. He drinks. He does explosive training. He juices. He wears knees braces and thermal tape on his joints. He's not the force he used to be.
i always thought canelo could take beterbiev but then came bivol. still i think canelo has a shot because hes fresher and less of an height disadvantage compared to bivol
Not quite. Canelo is younger sure, but not fresher. He's taken a lot of damage over the years due to the numerous fights he's had and his stamina is poor. Most boxers his age don't have that much mileage on them. Beterbiev has better stamina and much less mileage which actually makes him the fresher boxer.
Agree with most of your post but based on everything we've seen so far, my guess is that Canelo has a pretty good chance of making it to the final bell and winning more rounds than some of you are willing to admit.
Honestly I think its a very fun fight, and I think the complete styles disaster that was the Bivol fight and then the competitive undynamic nature of the trilogy fight with Golovkin actually has Canelo slightly underrated on average right now. This is a fun fight where Canelo will be getting a portion of what he wants (just not by the one hed like it from lol), which is a guy coming right at him trying to land serious leather who is susceptible to getting caught and who it would appear is susceptible to being hurt. This is an entirely different matchup than the Bivol one, in which Canelo had no 'ins' to the fight, he had nothing in that fight that I could see would allow him to get any grip on trying to win it, other than hoping for the judges to give it to him. Thats not the case here.... he will at least land the type of punches needed to have his moments, the question will be how effected will Beterbiev be by these punches. And I also think its a fun clash of styles. Canelo likes fighting 'slower' fighters that come to him. That will be the case here, and it would be interesting to see what he can do with it. It would also be fun/interesting to see if Beterbiev could not just win, but be the first person to actually stop Canelo. So... Can AB take multiple flush home run shots from Canelo and be fine? Can AB be the first to stop Canelo? To me, those questions make this a fun fight. I also think the actual action in the ring would be fun to watch. That all being said, thats just a cherry on a cake. The actual cake is that Beterbiev is too big, too good, and in all honesty the fight shouldnt even take place, Canelo doesnt belong at 175.
I'm no Canelo fan, but I think he would do a bit better than most opinions here. He still loses, probably by KO, but it wouldn't surprise me if he lasted the distance & even won a few rounds.
In my world if no one can box 12 rounds with him, it means the competition is bad. Proven by the fact a former welterweight is fighting and winning belt at light heavyweight. So wait a minute, small ginger can fight everyone, only Beterbiev remains a gatekeeper ? Very strong division ! I am gonna tell my grandchildren that Beterbiev was god. What a fairy tail. I should get on my knee every time I pronounce his name.
