That's true, but equally there's a promotional arrogance around Canelo in that he's this bankable star. Remove the Mayweather and GGG fights and his PPV record isn't world-beating; he's not a mainstream star and the notion of him routinely drawing million-plus numbers is laughable. If we reset expectations to 500k+ being decent for any fighter, and that he's top draw in the US just now, the debate would change.
Agreed. The promotion for a Canelo fight seems to be going through the motions as his promoters are of the belief that he is a bona fide star who will sell regardless. It also means a poor undercard too. To add, he is a star. But he isn’t on the level of a Conor Mc or Floyd
