For Bivol to win, he has to outbox Canelo so clearly, that even the casuals listening to the bias commentary are convinced. Without KDs and with Canelo's chin and ped work rate, it is very difficult. As long as Canelo is standing at the end, i dont see him losing. Bivol is a better boxer, but that won't matter.
Bivol is too basic to beat Canelo. On top of that he has been kind of inactive and didn't look good in his last few fights. He has good distance control, footwork, and ability to block shots with his guard but that high guard blinds him to hooks. Canelo will use that and go to the body too. He kind of slowed down late in fights against Joe Smith & another tall British dude (can't recall his name). I put v-cash on Bivol but not put a lot of real money. I could be wrong though and he did look in tremendous shape in the weigh-in. Hopefully he brings his game up and shows us all his skills. We'll find out soon enough.
I don't agree when people say Bivol is too basic to beat Canelo. Kovalev did nothing but throw 1-2s the entire night and move around the ring and I believe he was up on two of the cards (or maybe one). I think Bivol can do this but better than Kovalev. He's the same size as Kovalev and if he can utilize his height and stay on the outside, Canelo is in for a long night. For as good as Canelo is, he still doesn't have the best legs in boxing and is rather flat-footed. Movers will always give him problems. Bivol is in his prime and hasn't shown himself to have a weak chin. Maybe Canelo catches up to him late but if he doesn't, I think Canelo loses on any objective scorecard.
Fair points. I don't think he can sustain the movement for 12, he's bound to get clocked with hooks to the body & upstairs that he doesn't see.
Bivol is top quality. I don't expect him to come in and just fold for the pay check like Smith's ***** ass, Saunders, and Plant. Bivol has built himself a solid resume at 175, and seems like a solid operator. He would definitely beat the guys on Canelo's resume at the higher weights. If Canelo is able to pull this off fair and square, this is a better win than Kovalev, Smith, Plant, Saunders, Jacobs, etc. Bivol UD.
I think we are going to see a good and competitive strategic fight where neither guy goes down. In other words, Bivol doesn't stand a chance. He'd have to box perfect to get a SD win. That's just the way it is. Too much $$ on the line with the GGG fight. If Bivol commits to using the jab as much as Trout did, he could do it because Trout has a weak jab and did nothing off of it, whereas Bivol could.
