At this stage I'd still have to say Canelo, it's not as if Lemieux and Eubank Jr are top flight fighters is it.
I mean, I rate Khan a lot more than most. I was impressed by how quickly he dispatched of Lo Greco and I'd pick Khan to beat Kell Brook. But that's a bold prediction putting this new version of Khan ahead of Canelo. That said, I thought a 2015 version of Khan would have given Mayweather fits, and Khan certainly has the capability to win a decision vs anybody if he can stay out of trouble. If Khan stepped up to 160 to fight Canelo in a rematch, it would be a big ask, but would have he a chance vs Canelo in a rematch to go the distance and possibly win a decision? I think he would, but I'd still favor Canelo to probably land another "hail mary" lmao.
Reasonable post except for the "in defeat" part lol. It's definitely a fight that I'd want to see. Hard to predict how it would unfold, but I think most would predict that Sounders would be "running away" the whole fight unwilling to engage with Canelo. (the kind of strategy that garnered Canelo such criticism in how he fought GGG and why many fans thought GGG won)
I despise Clenelo but he was 23 years old and drained to 152 lbs. That was probably the worst version of him we have seen. He still would have lost at 154 lbs, but he had to dehydrate a lot for that fight. Saunders probably loses a close decision because Golden Boy.
I've always said other than a prime Pacman, Khan is the one to beat Floyd. His style matches up perfectly. But Khan fighting anyone above WW is a KO waiting to happen. Canelo would dispatch of Khan again, just like he did the first time.
Not necesarily. Canelo gave Floyd his toughest and closest fight in years and he wasn't 100%. A fully fit 154-lb Canelo would have done even better vs Floyd and may have found a way to win, but we'll never know. Regardless, BJS fights nothing like Mayweather. Yes they are both hard to hit, but that's where the similarities pretty much end.
Yes it was very impressive the way Khan 2.0 blitzed through Lo Greco, don't be surprised if he does the same to Spence if their paths ever cross. And if Khan 2.0 did that it would put him in a good position to be able to secure the rematch against Clenelo.
What are you talking about Floyd whitewashed canelo, Floyds toughest fight in years was Maidana and Cotto. Canelo was a straight forward fight for Floyd.
Yes, and I'd expect Canelo to beat Khan again, probably by brutal knockout, but I would still give a better more prepared Khan an outside shot at going the distance and possibly winning a decision if he can stay out of trouble. Mayweather doesn't have the kind of power that Canelo has, particularly a full fledged Middleweight Canelo. Yup, Khan was all wrong for Mayweather particularly by 2015. It's obvious why Mayweather chose Berto instead, fighting Khan would have been a problem for Floyd especially late in Floyd's career.
That'd be awesome honestly. I'm a fan of both Khan and Canelo and though we're probably in the minority, personally I'd love to see a Khan Canelo rematch lol just for the entertainment factor. But a Canelo rematch could put Khan into retirement. I don't really want to see him get brutalized again though and I think Khan could accomplish a lot at 154. Spence Khan 2.0 at 154 would be a fun fight. Spence had already talked about wanting to fight Canelo one day, Spence is a difficult fight for Khan but stylistically I think he matches up well and may be all wrong for Spence.
No question about it, Khan 2.0 puts on a clinic against Spence, styles makes fights, speed kills and Khan has the fastest hands in the game. Khan 2.0 vs Clenelo in the UK would be the biggest fight in British boxing history. Clenelo vs Spence would be more competitive than Khan 2.0 vs Spence but I think you'd have to favour Clenelo what with him being far more proven and proven at 154, 155 and 160.
Floyd fought Canelo before he fought Maidana, so when he fought Canelo it was his closest fight since DLH / Castillo. Cotto did not win as many rounds vs Floyd as Canelo did, and the fight was not contested at as high of a level. Cotto was already starting to decline by the time he fought Floyd. If you study the film, it's very obvious that Canelo was a much more difficult fight for Floyd than Cotto or Maidana was. Just in terms of the kind of shape Floyd was in vs Canelo and looking at how he fought Canelo vs how he fought Cotto. Floyd had a more difficult time with Canelo than he did with Pacquiao also. (of course Pacquiao was coming off a KO loss and was already in decline by the time Floyd fought him) Pacquiao was a pretty straight forward fight for Floyd compared to Canelo. Floyd didn't have to reach into his bag of tricks vs Pac-Man, Cotto or Maidana like he had to do with Canelo. Maidana 1 was arguably closer than the fight with Canelo (though the scorecards were identical) but Floyd didn't take Maidana as seriously as an opponent as he did Canelo, he didn't prepare as hard. This is not really even debatable if you study the film. Maidana 1 was close because Floyd did not perform as well as he did when he fought Canelo. He didn't prepare the same and he allowed Maidana to make it closer by how he fought that fight compared to how he fought Canelo.
All 3 judges disagree with you. CJ Ross was a stretch having it a draw, but the other 2 judges still gave Canelo 3 and 4 rounds. I had Canelo winning rounds 2,3,4 and 10, with rounds 6 and 12 being pretty even. In fairness, all those rounds were very close, and could be given to Floyd, whereas some of the rounds that Floyd won were more clear. So it's arguable to score most of the rounds to Floyd, but giving Floyd all those close rounds is being extremely generous to Floyd.
