I'm not sold on Plant - either with regards to pop or durability, so I'd reckon Canelo KO/TKO before 10 as Plant tires due to the body shots. Would like to be wrong and see Plant really take it to Canelo in terms of workrate and not letting Canelo set himself. Saunders did 'ok' but he was shoeshing and more looking to steal rounds rather than looking to win IMO.
Canelo on points in a tougher than people think fight. Plant whilst untested at elite level has great speed, athleticism and is defensively sound, he’s also 6’1/74” reach, he’s going to give Canelo problems. My only reservation is his offensive arsenal at this level over 12 rounds.
Really hope you are right, and he comes to win and establishes those 'Sweet Hands', gets that jab going and makes Canelo set/reset constantly. Canelo needs to be pushed to see if he really does have gears to go through - I felt he look a tad frustrated round 5/6 against Saunders where he hit air a few times with some big shots, but the uppercut he was looking for came off, so it's hard to read too much into that. The big test for Plant IMO is whether he get's gunshy like so many others have done after the 1st couple of crisp counters. Really only GGG has stayed in the pocket and tried to impose his game on Canelo since Floyd.
100% If Caleb comes with self belief and does not go into a shell when Canelo starts getting on top, which at points he will, if he keeps his distance making Canelo reset I think he’s got a great chance to win. It’s a big jump admittedly from Mike Lee, Feignbutz and Truax to Canelo but it’s a jump every champion must take. I think Canelo wins, but there’s something in Plant which I see in which I think makes him more dangerous than BJS.
I like Plant a lot hes one of my favorite fighters rn but he's not ready for Canelo. His tricky footwork and smooth defense will give Canelo problems like Saunders did but Plant has a bad habit of getting lazy in the late rounds and getting caught. I think Canelo will either win a comfortable decision of get a late stoppage. Plant has lots of promise though I hope we get to see Plant face Benavidez or the other top guys at 168 eventually.
Based off the Saunders fight, I think Caleb Plant may present a bit more of a tactical challenge than some may think. His movement and judgement of distance is more consistent than Saunders, but where he falls short is his patterns which I think Canelo can and will time into the bombs. Prediction - Canelo on points.
Canelo ko or plant 8-4 dec Plants timing is being highly underrated. We will see if plant can keep from getting hit. Not sure if hes durable enough. We will see if plants stamina will hold up. See if plant can keep canelo off of him. Speed of foot, hand, defense, timing vs power, durability, timing, defense. Cant wait. Hope plant hires rudy hernandez to make some stacked cast wraps.
Gotta favor Canelo But I definitely think plant will do better then BJS. can Plant keep him off for 12 rounds? Possible, but I’m not too sure about it. his best wins are against Mike Lee & Jose Uzcategui. That Makes it Hard to put money against Canelo.
I'll take Canelo by middle rounds stoppage. Plant will run. Canelo will work the body and slow him down. Then he will time him and take him out brutally. I've seen nothing from Plant to make me think he's better than Saunders.
Comes down to can Plant hurt Canelo enough to keep Canelo off him, imo. Canelo is going to land some shots. Can Plant stand up to them and not just run away in an effort to finish on his feet? I think no. Alvarez TKO9 Plant
