I think Calzaghe would set a pace where he starts collecting rounds and Canelo wouldn't be able to catch up.

I think by round 5 Canelo wouldn't be able to land enough significant shots to turn the tide in his favor. Calzaghe was really good at taking the zing out of his opponents punches because he would get so close to them.

I think Canelo could hurt Calzaghe but i think the flaw with Canelo (his biggest flaw) is that he resets his feet at times when he goes on the attack given a mover more time to move. He kept resetting his feet often in the first Golovkin fight which let Triple G land clubbing shots when Canelo tried landing his own.

I think ultimately Calzaghe would set a certain pace and Canelo won't be able to catch up. Canelo has to have a sitting, slower target like Callum Smith to land huge shots or someone who has a habit of not tucking his chin enough and leaving himself open like Billy Joe Saunders. Calzaghe tucks his head enough when he comes inside throwing shots and his ''slaps'' are harder to anticipate.

I think Andre Ward would do similar to Canelo and try to take away Canelo's power by making it ugly and keeping it close. Ward is also a bad style matchup for Canelo.

you can talk belts all you like, but they are nothing but a smokescreen for a lack of quality opponents.
i have no contention with calzaghe at SMW, but you don't become 'great' by waiting for the 2 best fighters in the world to be dethroned by someone else and past prime before fighting them.

i don't dislike calzaghe at all. he was an excellent fighter and the best at SMW during his time.
he was too good to not go to the US and test himself against the best, it's that waste of talent that i have a contention with.
because of that, it's ludricrous to me to compare him to fighters who will be remembered as true greats who didn't take this path of least resistance.
