Who would win Between Reigning Undisputed WBC, WBA, WBO and IBF super middle weight champion of the world Canelo Alvarez and former unified WBC, WBA, WBO super middleweight champion of the world Joe Calzaghe? (prime for prime)

Calzaghe wins a clear, but competitive decision.

I agree. I think Calzaghe's hand speed and volume punching being the main difference.

It's very difficult to determine just how hurtful most of Joe's punches were against genuinely durable opponents and that might matter here given Alvarez's ability to punish lazy, wasteful punches with much harder blows. Neither man is capable of stopping the other IMO so these blows will determine who controls real-estate and exchanges as the fight wares on more than a clear and pleasant danger to the other. So small margins.

My feeling with Calzaghe was that late in his career when his physical prime met his fistic prime he was able to judge and risk his hands according to the needs presented by controlling his opponent. The danger, of course, is that he will break or injure a hand, but I don't think those type of predictions really have much hold on fantasy fights. So assuming that Calzaghe does what he always does which is shoeshine but throw in hard punches to the necessary degree, his style is awful for Canelo, who he would certainly outland. I think Calzaghe would make Alvarez more uncomfortable than Alvarez would be able to make Calzaghe and I think that would probably make the difference, although an Alvarez late charge would be interesting and exciting.

I'll pick Calzaghe to climb off the canvas late to take a narrow decision win.
