Its a big difference between not caring about Canelo and not wanting to fight him.
But yes, their big goal was achieved when Canelo gave them the belt, but I wouldn't say they didnt want to fight him.

I think GB and Canelo made a huge gamble, one which they would cash in on IF Canelo fights and beats GGG later on. Can happen, and if it does, ODLH and Canelo will have the world by the b×××s

So let me get this straight they said they wanted only the belt and not Canelo he was just in the way. That was a lie they wanted the payday point blank period. Canelo has no interest in fighting him, yet he's still chasing him?!

big money fight, canelo can make up the height and size disadvantage if chavez jr's chin is cracked and he comes in weight drained.

I'd agree with you, but I think Chávez Jr will be a corpse at 165 ...

Golovkin's team definitely want the Canelo payday, that's perfectly obvious. And I think Canelo will fight him next year, he needs to for his reputation plus it will be a huge payday.

Honestly he doesn't though, Canelo is pretty young, GGG is not.

Canelo wants to fight him for the payday. Same for ODLH.
They just took a page from Floyd's book and want to squeeze as much money as possible from the casual fans. Fight will happen. Dont know when though, could be next year, or the one after that, who knows, but its gonna happen, thej're just in the marinating process right now

If he waits until 2018, what if GGG loses and wrecks the superfight?

That's a huge payday gone down the drain.

Money issue aside, I think Canelo is a proud Mexican and would not want to be remembered as the guy that vacated the green belt, especially after the whole circus in the ring after the Khan fight. " we'll fight right now if u want, come in the ring, 160 no problem, in Mexico we dont eff around" ...
    The Next week he vacated
Since I follow boxing, one thing I learned, Mexicans dont like quitters, and what is worst than that? Surrender without a fight

He didnt put himself in this uncomfortable position for nothing. They all want the fight, its just a plan to maximize the profits, and it will work

Its a definite possibility, but he looked damn good in the Britsch fight and had no trouble making the weight, and he didn't look like he rehydrated all that much for the match, he seems a little more dedicated now (believe it or not), and like I said in my original post, if he has 5 months to prepare adding the fact he's in shape right now, I think he can do it with relative ease.

I hope you're right, very interesting fight if so,

I guess I'm worried that Chavez Jr will celebrate making weight and successfully returning to the ring by going on a big eating spree lol.

That's a possibility kiwiman. But his last fight Saturday night was contracted at 169 and he came in at 167.. so if he does things right, the way he did in this last camp I think he can make the weight. And he'll have a lot of time to prepare so... YEAH. lol

Maybe I'm naive, but I'm kind of excited that this is being considered and think it would be a lot of fun to watch. Canelo is of course better and should outbox Jr and look super slick when Jr attacks. But as much heat as Jr takes he isn't that bad. He knows his way around the ring, has good eyes, is a good combo puncher. It's obviously simply a smaller A fighter vs a bigger B fighter. Canelo will be wary of Jr's strength and power early, then once he realises he's comfortable will exchange with him for most of the fight. And lands well-timed, short, clean punches in those exchanges. Canelo dishes out a beating in the end, but shows great heart. Canelo by decision. Would get the hype machine rolling, but wouldn't seriously prepare Canelo for GGG like Lemieux or Saunders would.
