    Good post.

I think it wouldn't be such a bad way to prepare for GGG. Lemiuex would be better, sure, but Saunders? Saunders fights nothing like GGG imo, or am I missing something?

I think that taking this fight is slightly embarrassing for Canelo.

GGG isn't the limited puncher Lemieux is, so fighting Saunders would show us how Canelo can handle a skilled but bigger guy. Fighting Chavez and Lemieux before GGG would be exciting, but Canelo would be fighting punchers who he'd have to outbox, and he most likely wouldn't be able to box GGG like that. Mix things up with a puncher AND a boxer, before facing a boxer-puncher in Golovkin.

If it happens I'll be excited too, these guys were being compared to eachother and groomed to be rivals since before their rise to superstardum , both with their own sets of loyal fans from culiacan sinaloa, and Guadalajara Jalisco and throughout mexico and the states, which makes for a good All Mexican rivalry, on the level of Morales-Barerra and Vasquez-Marquez, but other than money it's really not a fight of significance . Back in 2012 this fight would have been very significant and very lucrative as well.

Canelhoe as told the world he cannot make 160
Hence kneeling at the feet of GGG and handing him his 160 belt and then telling the world I cannot make 160
But he can make 165 ten pound above his comfortable natural 155 canelhoe weight

This is proof in my eyes he fears ggg

He performed better than he has in a while but he's still the same guy. But wow, he 'looked' great. He looks a good 6-7 lbs less than the Fonfara fight. He looks really fit, muscular but lean. He looks more mature with those sideburns trimmed too. Actually looks like an athlete, not a dope head.

I jokingly predicted this a while ago I thought Canelo would continuously use catch weights below 160 then completely jump over 160 in an attempt to avoid GGG again, I didn't think it would be true but this guy has no shame. Anyway cinnamon get your money.

Battle of the drainers. Chavez will be a zombie if he makes weight and Canelo will smash his head like a prop in the walking dead.

165lbs? Chavez would be dead at that weight. He would have no punch resistance whatsoever, surely.

He should get a clause that allows him to come in overweight for a financial penalty ... he might need that!

as much as i want the GGG canelo fight this comes across as i really fun entertaining fight ...........if chavez can make the weight ok,

could 'pull a mayweather' like with his 'catchweight' fight with JMM and just come in at his normal weight and just think fcuk it and jus pay the fine

I think the punishment for doing that would be severe, probably like 1mil per pound overweight. If I was Chavez Jr and was getting a huge payday, I'd probably weigh in at 167 or 168. Saying that, they'll probably say 'no fight'.

If Canelo took this fight, I would have nothing but respect for that level of trolling. And I say that as a GGG fan boy

Hmmm. Hadn't picked up that he came in at 167, Boxrec has it 168 - I think it could be a nice scrap, but like Kiwiman I'm not at all sure Jr can still comfortably make 165 - It'll be nearly 5 years since he fought that low and he ain't a kid anymore.
