I think you need to get some glasses, first you seemed to miss anything Sor Rungviasi landed and only saw what Chocolatito landed, and now you think Chavez didn't hurt Maravilla, what are talking about? I'm a huge Sergio Martinez fan, probably his biggest fanboy on the site, but Chavez's hook rocked Sergio pretty badly a few seconds before the first KD, which is what eventually led to the KD, after he hurt him again along the ropes. Sergio recovered very well, and the 2nd KD was clearly him being pushed down, but don't try to short sell or make light of the first one, it was legit as legit can be.

Nice work and great points Rummy!

The most interesting thing about this fight is how Canelo will do against bigger men.

If Chavez jr comes in 100%, his chances at replicating what he did in round 12 against Martinez become a possibility.

Martinez was able to move out of punching range for 11 rounds, baffling the bigger slower Chavez.

Canelo doesn't use his feet for defense like Martinez did, he stays in the pocket and uses head and waist movement, including the shoulder roll.

Chavez won't have to tire himself by chasing Canelo around the ring like he did with Martinez, and you can't ever count Chavez out, not even in the last round as we all saw.

I favor Canelo but I would not be the least shocked if Chavez managed to catch Canelo at any moment the way he eventually caught the elusive Sergio Martinez.

This can end of being a Cotto-Margarito type fight where both men take a beating, or it may very well be a one sided domination if Canelo fights a perfect fight.

    We'll find out next month.

I don't want perfect technical fight. I want blood, tender ribs and flying sweat off both heads.
    Good post Isal:thumbsup:

Alright, I rewatched the 12th round of the Martinez vs Chavez fight. The knockdown was legit and set up from a solid punch that rocked Sergio at 1:46. But I think it's effects were at least exaggerated. Sergio seemed clear headed, unwilling to hold, but willling to trade afterwards, and not bothered again by anything Chavez hit him with subsequently. Also, him twisting his knee in the twelfth, which needed surgery after that fight, is a pretty good explanation for what happened after the knockdown. Sergio went 11-0 through the first 11 rounds by staying mobile and circling his opponent. Why does he choose to stand and trade in the last minute and a half if he hadn't twisted his knee and couldn't run anymore? If you don't know that he'd twisted his knee, then it looks like he's on wobbly legs, like most people assumed.

He decided to stand and trade because his head had cleared, and Sergio is a manly man in spite of all that said about him, and he didn't want to hold, he wanted to tough it out and put on a display of machismo and not cede one inch to this young punk that he'd been ridiculing in the lead up to the fight and allow him to have a small moral victory, and of course he leg was effected, so I don't disagree with anything else you said.

this fight has too many variables for me to make a solid pick, but as long as jr cuts safely and intelligently, with the boxing odds i'll be leaning towards chavez jr...

    variables

will canelo/chavez be weaker or stronger at 164.5?
will canelo/chavez be slower or faster that 164.5?
will canelo be able to take a big mans punch?
will jr's height and reach be a problem for canelo considering jr has never used his height and reach to his advantage?
will their drug tests come back clean?

The difference is that Canelo has been more active and is entering his prime.
Chavez has been inactive and is past his prime.
Canelo has been sharpening his skills during camp and no weight problems
while Chavez has been spending more time trying to make weight.
Canelo will batter a brave , hapless Chavez in a terrible beating . The referee
should stop the fight but won't . Canelo on points.

If this was old cheeseburger Jr from 6 years AGO.... Sure.... Now...No way Izzy. Jr will not be effective at this stage of his career and Canelo makes nice pay and looks to other big fights as the reason this one was made...MONEY) PPV HYPE
Canelo has a tough FEW rounds but eventually catches the drained hamburerla and ends in KO fashion by the 9th
Nice vision just too late for Jr

Good video analysis, I believe a confrontation in this fight could occur early, Canelo isn't a mover so he'll be there for Chavez and as stated Canelo has the skill advantage . So Chavez needs a brawl and with his height and strength advantage it will be interesting. You know golden boy wants him to box but can he win backing up all night?

Most dangerous if the weed and buffet is open 24 hours...LOL
Jr has this last chance to be great again but the cards are clearly stacked against him
He should blow off the weight by a few pounds and pay the fine....That's his only chance or not being an extra on the Walking Dead come fight night
    Just my humorous view...Thanks

This is what I'm thinking, Canelo doesn't have to worry about weight at all during camp, was probably his best camp in years.
Chavez is a quitter and not as skilled as Canelo.
