Canelo Vs Cotto May 3rd, 2014

thats always going to be Floyd's date so no one is going to steal that from him. Not even huge Mexican/PR stars like Cotto-Canelo

 

anyone. Those dudes are big but they arent Floyd. Canelo has never even been on PPV except for Floyd's undercards and when he fought Floyd. Cotto has but his biggest PPV by far came against Floyd. They are stars but they arent on Floyd's level. Any date is Floyd's date if he wants it. No one will go against it

 

are you a newbie. He just did a mil or close to a mil with Guerrero. When has Cotto or Canelo done that? You think they are bigger stars than Floyd? You think they do anything close to a mil against the Ghost? Its different levels

 

Thing is Floyd can only steal it, if he fights a Mexican. Mayweather v Khan would be as big on May 3rd as it would be if it was on any other date. The only type of fight that May 3 will make bigger is a fight with a Mexican. Canelo v Cotto (Mexico v PR) would be very big on this day.

However I dont think it will happen as I dont think theyll match Canelo so toughly so soon. Cotto will probably face Martinez, and Canelo fights Molina.

 

there is still no way they outsell Floyd vs a non Mexican.

Even moreso though, there is no network or promoter that is going to go against Floyd like that. No way Showtime/GBP would go against Floyd.

 

so why has Canelo never headlined a PPV? How many buys did Cotto and the Mexican favorite in Margarito do? Im about to stop talking to you because you are obviously one of those guys who just say things that arent true. You talk about facts and numbers. Look them up. One common opponent is Mosley. A black guy, non Mexican. How many buys did Canelo, Cotto, & Floyd do with him? Case Closed

 

So I take it you think the Mosley comparison is fair. Do you think Mosley's marketability was the same when he faced Floyd freshly after he destroyed Margarito, and when he faced Canelo after being dominated by Floyd, Pacquiao and drawing with Mora? Do you think his marketability was even slightly similar? It'd be remarkably stupid for a regular human if you do.

 

The thing is if Canelo v Cotto did go against Floyd v Khan/Garcia on May 3rd, the Floyd fight would lose more consumers than would Canelo. A lot of Floyd's audience is Mexican on may 3rd, and the Mexicans would tune in to watch another Mexican if it was on offer. Floyd wouldnt go ahead with that if that's what Canelo Cotto chose to do.

 

It needs to be made for mid 2014 but not May 3rd. That's Mayweather's date.

Cotto going for Maravilla and a MW title by the looks. If he does work with GBP again it'll be after that, but he's close to retiring now.
