    From Steve Kim :

As a long time Cotto fan, I gotta say I have mixed feelings about this. I personally believe Cotto is shot and a fight against someone like Canelo would be bad for his health. Another part of me feels that Canelo is flawed enough where a W wouldn't be out of the question, and that the reward would be worth the risk.

Cotto looked like a shell of himself against Trout. He's one of my two or so favorite fighters since I began following boxing when I was younger, but I think his time at the top of the sport has come and gone. Don't really want to see him get hurt here, which is probably what would happen. I don't think he can turn back the clock and do enough work while avoiding Canelo's best shots to win here, unfortunately.

The fight does make sense for Cotto. He's at a stage where really, he's proven enough and now should only take on big money fights. Plus, Canelo can be beat. I'm not saying current Cotto beats Canelo, but Cotto's a pretty good puncher with his left and not a bad finisher. He'd ought to have some chance. Cotto can also fight in the pocket.

well, as fans, what you think he should do? Go beat up some kid on the block and retire? Dood's gotta fight and he's gotta make money. There's a plausible win here yes, so i think he should go for it if he's willing. This sport is all about hurting another person, Cotto knows this lol. May he get knocked the **** out, possibly so. Damaged, possibly so. He knows this, if he goes into a fight. Sometimes fighters are forced to go out on their shield in order for them to get a clue, he's gonna be one of them. He's got mouthes to feed....

    Please no.
Canelo doesn't need another shot big name on his resume

    Predictable match making.

Equally calculable that Cotto gets badly beaten.

What? How is a fight against A Cotto that's coming of 2 losses legit? The funny part is that Cotto would have more success than arm punching trout

We knew this was going to be the set up, Poor Cotto is gonna get iced, hes too little and his chin has lots of Mileage on it to handle shots like Canelo's. Sad stuff.

Cotto hasn't been the same since Jennings. Probably Margarito.
