As of February 7, 2025, the highly anticipated boxing match between Saul Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford is back on track. After a period of uncertainty, Canelo has signed a multi-fight deal with Turki Alalshikh, head of Saudi Arabias General Entertainment Authority. This agreement includes a bout in Saudi Arabia in May, followed by the much-anticipated showdown with Crawford in September, potentially in Las Vegas.

Earlier reports had suggested that the Canelo vs. Crawford fight was canceled, with speculation that Canelo might face Jake Paul instead. However, the recent deal with Alalshikh has refocused plans on the Crawford matchup.

Both fighters have expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming bout. Canelo’s commitment to this multi-fight deal underscores his dedication to taking on top-tier opponents, while Crawford has been vocal about his desire to face Canelo, aiming to shock the world in their anticipated clash.

Canelo vs. Crawford fight is officially back on, with both camps preparing for a monumental event in September 2025.

    Canelo playing 4D Chess! :deal:
    Let’s fuggin Go!! :boxing1

Why should I care about canelo dragging another old tiny guy up two divisions?
    Fight Benavidez.

Saul Canelo Álvarez has entered into a significant four-fight agreement with Turki Alalshikh, head of Riyadh Season and Saudi Arabias General Entertainment Authority. This deal outlines a series of high-profile bouts spanning from 2025 to 2026.

    Details of the Four-Fight Deal:

    1. First Fight May 2025 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia:

Date & Location: Scheduled for May 2025 in Riyadh.

Opponent: While not officially confirmed, potential contenders include Jermall Charlo and Bruno Surace, who recently achieved an upset victory over Jaime Munguia.

    2. Second Fight September 2025 in Las Vegas, USA:

Date & Location: Planned for September 2025 in Las Vegas, as part of a Riyadh Season event.

Opponent: A highly anticipated matchup against Terence Crawford, who will move up two weight classes to challenge Ãlvarez at super middleweight (168 lbs). Notably, the contract excludes a rehydration clause, allowing Ãlvarez to gain significant weight before the fight.

    3. Third Fight February 2026 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia:

Date & Location: Set for February 2026 back in Riyadh.

Potential Opponents: Discussions suggest possible bouts against Dmitry Bivol in a rematch, Hamzah Sheeraz, or Chris Eubank Jr.

    4. Fourth Fight October 2026 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia:

Date & Location: Planned for October 2026 in Riyadh.

Opponent: To be determined based on Canelo’s status and the boxing landscape at that time.

    Background and Negotiations:

This agreement follows a period of intense speculation regarding Alvarez’s s future opponents. Initially, reports indicated that Álvarez was in negotiations to face Jake Paul in May 2025. However, the deal with Riyadh Season has refocused his trajectory towards more traditional boxing matchups, notably the bout with Crawford.

Both Álvarez and Alalshikh have publicly acknowledged the agreement on social media, signaling a strong commitment to this partnership. This series of fights is poised to be a significant chapter in Álvarez
illustrious career, offering fans a blend of high-stakes matchups and historic venues.

    Let's go!

Crawford, along with Usyk, has been one of my favourite fighters for about a decade now. I have the same funny feeling about this that I had when Usyk/Fury was first announced. I know Canelo is a far superior fighter to Fury (without the height and reach advantages), but It's a gut feeling.

    Crawford by decision

Would you have disapproved of Henry Armstrong going up from featherweight to welter, three real divisions? He won all three by the way and nearly won the middleweight title.

Not the same. Going from 126 (through 3 divisions) to 147lbs in your mid 20s to early 30s is different than going from 147 to 168 when you're nearly 40 & have already spent a full career at LW, LWW & WW.. apart from the one off Madrimov fight that nearly backfired it's basically a jump from 147 to 168.. there's no career progression to it. It's a Brook GGG type fight. Worse in fact. What's happening is they are trying to make a generational Floyd vs Manny fight for this era but it doesn't have the same history or rivalry behind it. There was talk of those two crossing paths for years & rightly so wheras this fight is just a Saudi turkey whim out of nowhere.. because Canelo grew into a SMW.

Alvarez started at super lightweight. They are similar in height and reach. If Crawford wins, he'll be considered an all-time great.

Roberto Duran started at bantamweight and won a world title at middleweight.

Harry Greb and Sam Langford were natural middleweights who fought and beat heavyweights.

The American me is rooting for a Crawford victory it would be cool for that to happen
    However, money on Nelo
hard to win a decision / bet against him

Bud is gonna be at a disadvantage with more than just weight the judges are biased for Nelo.

So maybe Turki will stack the deck against
It will be close & competive for sure
I’ve just been conditioned not to bet against Canelo.
