How does he do? As far as I'm aware the top (or atleast guys who are up and coming) are Munguia, Morrell Jr and Benavidez. I think Canelo beats all 3, but each one gets progressively harder.

Munguia = Would look good for the first 4-5 rounds, but begins to break down by 8-9 due to lack of defense and patience. May even get stopped. He's largely inexperienced like Canelo was pre-Mayweather which is to say he has a lot of fights under his belt, but its against cans or mediocre guys past prime such as Ryder. He's not fought a world class guy in any regard which I think makes more of a difference against Canelo.

Morrell = Tricky style matchup. Has pretty good defense, incredible combinations/fighting instincts and it seems he can crack. While he has even less experience on the world stage than Munguia, he's got a far better amateur background against bigger, tougher dudes. I think he has the best chance at beating Canelo on points de to style, yet as we all know combination punchers are often beat by good counterpunchers and no one at 168 is on Canelo's level when it comes to counterpunching + defense. Close one, but I'd favor Canelo in addition due to his experience of dealing with combination punchers.

Benavidez = This is an even harder one to decide. Benavidez has the angles, speed and size to pretty much overrun Canelo at this point in his career, but he lacks footwork and defense which Canelo will capitalize on with counters everywhere. He's like a more offensive version of Morrell without the defense skills. I think its possible both of these guys could break each other down by 10-11. A stoppage could be in play for either guy. 50/50 toss up.

Anyhow what do you guys think?

Everyone talking about Canelo and his amazing counter punching. When was the last fight he showed this? All I see is someone who walks forward throwing single bombs at a time. People talking about a fantasy version of Canelo. He had a bruising fight with Ryder, and needed to wear glasses in the post fight. Morrell and Benavidez stop him.
