Almost everyone agreed the Charlo Williams weights were bizarre. I'm thinking showtime stuffed up by using the IBF am weight.

As for GGG being so big, what's funny is that Martin Murray dwarfed Golovkin. I showed the GGG Brook fight to some non boxing folks and when I asked who looked bigger they all said Brook. I even thought Brook looked like the bigger dude.

I was at the Monroe Jr fight and Monroe looked bigger

The most GGG has weighed in a fight was vs Rubio, 174 to Rubios 182.

GGG comes into camp weighing 170. He even weighs 165 a week before the fight. Can't dispute those WBC weights!!

The guy cuts weight for the 30 day weigh ins how is that hard to believe?

He wants to appear smaller when he is more like 5ft11 as well. He's a hair shorter than 6ft Martin Murray and clearly taller than Macklin and Geale listed 5ft10-11, miles taller than Lemieux who is listed at 5ft9.5

    He dwarfs Tyson and Hagler!!!!!

This guy has the widest back at 160 and he is clearly above average in height.

You guys need to head to specsavers or stop being so gullible

He has to weigh less than 168 a week out don't he? less than 176 30 days out.

The guy has only ever weighed thay much 7 days out against Brook and he looked like a holocaust victim

GGG was much taller and thicker than Brook, who did u ask 15yo girls?

Cuts weight for the one month weigh in lol... thats funny.

Froch, Ward, Degale and Groves have all said G would be a small 168lber. A huge middleweight doesn't make a small super middle.

They are pretty gullible too eh?

Go watch a fight involving Taylor, Hopkins, Pavlik, Miranda, Chavez Jr ... and you would see what 'huge' middleweights look like.

Looks like you've made up your mind that GGG is a middleweight weight bully hiding out from 168. Hey believe what you want.

The difference in size between Canelo and GGG is about the same as it is between GGG and DeGale. If GGG expects Canelo to come up to 160 to fight him, I hope he takes a challenge at a higher weight himself when DeGale etc are calling him out.

    No... for a few reasons.

    - Canelo has fought the majority of his recent fights, in Golovkins weight class.
    - Golovkin has never fought above his weight
    - Canelo has repeatedly weighed more than Golovkin in 30 day weigh ins.
    - Canelo has weighed more than Golovkin during actual fights
    - Bigger dimensional difference between G and Degale than G and Canelo

So, unless you can show where Golovkin has ever weighed more than Degale on fight night, ever weighed more than him a month out from fights, or show me where Golovkin has ever competed in Degales weight class because he was struggling to make his own.... those would go a ways to help make up for the fact that Degale has dimensional advantages over G that G doesn't have on Canelo.
Ill be surprised if you find a single instance though, let alone a couple.

I believe this would be a close fight but size and speed advantages would tell eventually. A UD either way and that also brings up where the fight is taking place. I picked Degale. Not really a fight I want to see though, both have business to take care of in their respective divisions.

Golovkin is an inch shorter than DeGale who isn't much thicker than him at all. He's 2 inches taller than Canelo and thicker. If GGG is closer to Canelo in size it's extremely marginal.

There just seems to be a double standard among certain fans who demand 'El Pollo' go up to MW to fight GGG, but any mention of GGG going up to SMW is shut down immediately.

Degale - 183cm height, 188cm reach, repeatedly outweighs Golovkin
Golovkin - 179cm height, 178cm reach, gets outweighed by Canelo numerous times, has never fought above his weight
Canelo - 175cm height, 179cm reach, fights above 154 (against 154lbers) numerous times, and has outweighed G himself numerous times.

Height wise you have a point of G being in the middle. However, once you start adding more stats and getting the bigger picture... like reach and weight, it becomes obvious that Canelo and Golovkin are closer in size. Golovkin has the least reach of all three, and within the last couple years has also often weighed the least of all three both during training camp and on fight night as well. But I will agree, its marginal. But its there, and its true... G is closer to canelos size than Degale. But since that's Marginal, lets explore further the reasons behind their weights (size) and why Canelo going to middleweight is not the same as Golovkin to super middle.

You keep mentioning Canelo going UP to middleweight like he hasn't been fighting there. 155lbs IS middleweight, hes been fighting there for years, and works hard to make it. Why? Hes not moving up because he wants to, hes moving up because he kills himself to make 154. He makes 154lbers (lara, angulo) fight at 155, why? because making 154 is a pain in the ass and difficult for him to do. For Cotto, he weighed 167lbs at his 30 day weigh in (he wouldn't allow himself to be weighed on fight night, so we don't know his weight during the fight, but you can bet it was right around what Golovkin routinely weighs, if not moreso)

    Don't you see the difference?

One guy cuts massive weight to struggle making his division, a division he has fought above routinely, and is only going to continue to fill out as he gets older, and making weight begins to get harder (which is why we will almost certainly never see Canelo at 154 again.... I will happily eat my words on this if he does, but imo he is done making the weight), and is naturally settling into what will be his natural division for his late 20's and into his 30's. The other is a mid 30's fighter that makes his division comfortably, doesn't need to cut drastically to make it relative to Canelo making 154, has never fought in the division above his, and routinely weighs 165lbs a MONTH out from his 160lb fights. (Golovkin would literally have to ADD pounds 30 days away from his fight, to weigh the same as Degale weighs when hes at his most lean, the night of the weigh in)

Canelo vs Golovkin is a much more natural fight than Golovkin vs Degale. And Golovkin fight or not, Canelo will be a full fledged middleweight by the end of 2017, for no other reason than that's the division his body is telling him to fight at. Golovkin, is going to remain a middleweight, for the exact same reason... because middleweight is his natural fighting weight.

Really.... when taking it all into account.... their weights, the divisions they've competed at, the fact that Canelo is going to be a middleweight regardless, G fight or not, because that's becoming his natural division anyways, theres just no comparison.... G vs Canelo is a much more natural fight than G vs Degale (or any natural super middle).

I mean really lol, they are practically the same weight (when Canelo doesn't outweigh him) on fight nights. That says it all, really.

I want to see Canelo vs Golovkin, because Canelo is going to be a full fledged middleweight this year, regardless. Because middleweight is going to be his natural fighting weight now (which is why again, mark my words, you wont see him at 154 again), and weight wise will be matching up perfectly with Golovkin (as he already has been, fighting at 155)

I don't want to see Golovkin at 168, because its obvious hes small for the weightclass... and if/when he loses there, it will be because of his size disadvantage, the fact that hes making himself fight a division higher than a division he can comfortably make.

Propaganda at its finest. Canelo clearly aint 1.75m tall and that seriously puts his reach in jeopardy as well because they must have used the same tape
