Both in their primes, who wins?

Canelo wins pretty easily, I think. It's a horrible matchup for Froch; prime for prime, he's better than him in every department.

I think Canelo gives him trouble but his workrate and stamina are so abysmal at this weight that Froch would end up outworking him. Those loaded up single shots won't deter Froch enough from his gameplan.

Froch, despite his style, was also an underrated feinter which would sap Canelo's physical and mental energy even more.

    Canelo.

Froch not that hard to hit and Canelo would have hit him and hit him good.

Froch beats him within an inch of his life, anyone who thinks otherwise, you're deluding yourselves and you really need to get a grip. Every great at 168 batters this stumpy little ginger featherfist all over the ring. Calzaghe, Kessler, Ward, and Eubank beat him as well. I wouldn't rule out Collins, Ottke and Benn either. He might be able to beat prime Arthur Abraham or Lucian Bute, but even that I wouldn't bet on.

I dont disagree with him. I wouldn't call Canelo beating Ottke a foregone conclusion.

Plant, BJS, and Smith are incredibly mediocre fighters compared to the super middle crop of the 90s-early 2010s.

I don't disagree with this, but I think they were all much better than Ottke. Ottke was arguably the most overrated and protected world champion in the history of the sport.

The only fighter who has truly pushed Canelo back for 12 rounds was Bivol at light heavyweight, who is a much bigger and better boxer than Froch. Taylor and Groves both dropped Froch heavily, and Ward comfortably outboxed him. Canelo is slightly overrated, but Froch is even more overrated. Canelo has the better chin, better shot selection, and much higher ring IQ. In his prime, he didn't block punches with his nose either, like Froch did, beats him pretty easily on points, Canelo isn't Lucian Bute or Yusuf Mack.

The Canelo we witnessed the other night!? A prime Froch would have stopped him, no doubt. Prime for prime tho it's a 12'round gruelling battle and battle of iron chins that could have gone either way on close scorecards.
