No that wasn't directed at you, it was mainly a response to the comment "GGG by SD, MD, UD or late TKO. One way or another I think GGG gets his win."

"His" win, as if Golovkin deserves to be handed a victory just for showing up in the rematch, like there's no conceivable outcome or way that Canelo wins without there being some widespread judging conspiracy or robbery claim. I mean, lets be real, having the opinion that Canelo won the first fight is met with a considerable amount of resistance around here.

I watched your video and thought you made some good points, particularly pointing out that Golovkin had such a slow start, as I've been saying for some time. I mean you gave Canelo the first 3 rounds, I gave him the 4th as well, It wasn't until the final minute of the 5th round that Golovkin really got in any significant offense. Canelo was in complete control of the fight for the first 4 and a half rounds, but G finally managed to land a decent shot with Canelo on the ropes in the 5th and it changed things.

I just don't see how you can give Golvokin 8 rounds in a row (rounds 4-11) when in most of those rounds Canelo was landing the better harder punches. In a major prize fight with such back and forth action, it is highly unusual to give one fighter 8 rounds in a row when he's not dominating the rounds, when he's getting hit with the bigger shots. Canelo was slipping punches, making Golovkin miss and landing bombs in many of those rounds. By rounds 10 and 11, Canelo started upping the work rate as well. There really weren't too many clear Golovkin rounds, Canelo just doesn't lose many rounds because he knows how to go tit for tat when the opponent starts to assert control.

As far as why Golovkin didn't go to the body as much, a lot of that had to do with how he started. He was finding it difficult to get in the necessary punching range to be able to land a body shot. Canelo's movement in the early rounds had a considerable impact on Golovkin's ability to get into range to throw body punches. Golovkin was having enough difficulty landing shots upstairs, he just couldn't close the range fast enough or have enough hand speed to get into position for a body shot. When he's landed body shots in the past, he was dealing with slower opponents who left openings for body shots.

I predicted before the first fight that the windows to land body shots on Canelo were much smaller than G was used to and I pointed out how difficult it would be to land body shots on Canelo. Not only is the target smaller, but Canelo mixes up movement with blocking which keeps Golovkin from seeing the openings to get a body shot in.

There's also a chance that Canelo just starts dominating Golovkin after the first few rounds, with Golovkin just not able to compete with the movement, handspeed, and all around boxing ability of Canelo to greater effect than the first fight. At many points in the first bout, Golovkin seemed to become mentally unglued, like he just didn't have the level of concentration he needed to maintain his attack. At various points Golovkin was shaking his head, frustrated by what Canelo was doing to him. It was like Chavez Sr said many times Golovkin was just walking forward like a zombie, breathing heavily feeling like he was trying to come from behind needing to throw a lot of punches to even it up, because he couldn't land match Canelo's output in of quality punching or efficiency.

But I have a feeling we're going to see a much better version of Golovkin the 2nd time around, a much better prepared in shape Golovkin who's got a lot to prove. In the first fight Golovkin did not look his usual self during his ring walk. I think we're going to get a better version of both fighters and it should produce some fireworks.

Did you know Canelo is moving his camp to Colorado for high altitude training to improve his stamina? I thought he was very bulky and muscular bound going into the first fight so this change in preparation is another factor to consider.

I think Golovkin will make the adjustments this time and break down Canelo in a good fight and stop him. If it goes the distance I think it'll be slightly more in Golovkin favor this time and be scored properly in Golovkin's favor.

Exactly what I thought regarding bodywork.

However the question that isn’t answered and still worries me is WHY didn’t Golovkin throw to the body in the first fight? (an avid body puncher normally) He lacked bodywork in Jacobs fight as well. Is it the step up in competition? Getting too old to take risks? Lack of aggression at older age? This makes me worried that Gennady might just do the same and lose on the cards in the second fight.

I actually predicted Golovkin would stop Canelo with body shots and was very surprised to see him throw almost nothing to the body in the first fight. It could be Golovkin just forgetting to go to the body or perhaps he may find it hard to get to both Canelo and Jacobs body because they were both coming back with quick combos to the head.

Great job Rummy I agree with your way of thinking / You put it more delicately than I did though in saying. GGG must not expect to win any close rounds. He has to dominate.
As you said lets hope for a great fight & may the better man get the win with no contraversy
