These guys can't let it go. Many of them predicted GGG by KO in the first fight, and several of them still predicted GGG by KO for the rematch.
In 2016 he's younger, and Canelo hadn't yet fought at 160 pounds. And technically, at this point not only is the fight not over, it hasn't even happened.
Aww the feeling you had in your gut about loma was really about Canelo being 2-0 against Golovkin a G, Right?
Like Canelo told Golovkin, "forget the belts, meet me at 155 and lets do this" Golovkin: I only fight at 160 Golovkin a few montes before: I'll fight anyone from 154-168
Canelo after the Khan fight, before he vacated the title: I’ll fight Golovkin at 160, there’s no weight issue. Canelo a week later: Here’s your belt, see you a couple of fights later. Isal the pathological liar, the crazy nuthugger: The fight only didn’t happen because because of the weight issue!
He was being advised by his promoter to vacate the belt because the WBC was working on behalf of GGG to get GGG a better deal and split. The WBC gave Canelo a timetable to agree to terms following the Khan fight, that was the breaking point. There was a pending court case going on at that time involving Canelo's former promoter that had to be taken care of before they could come to terms. GGG was in a rush to get Canelo in the ring, Canelo or his team had pending litigation and was just coming off a fight. They were in no rush to get GGG in the ring. The WBC was telling them to commit to the fight under our terms within 15 days of Khan or you'll be stripped. They said screw that, here take your title, we'll negotiate when we're ready and we'll win it back when we fight GGG. Caving in to the WBC's timetable and demands would have been foolish.
Nah catchweights aren't part of this thread. I'm saying the fight should have happened at 160 when Canelo was the champ and Golovkin was the number 1 contender. At that point is when we're debating.
