There were two different quotes about Canelo's body not being ready for 160. One was from Canelo himself back in Oct 2015. And Oscar continued to say that Canelo's body still wasn't ready for 160 in 2016.

@theanatolian claimed that Canelo himself said that his body wasn't ready for 160 right before he fought Chavez. I fact checked him and pointed out that when Canelo said that, it was way back in Oct 2015.

When DLH said this, it was in 2016. Example :

    http://www.insidesocal.com/boxing/2...e-gennady-golovkin-wait-until-september-2017/

    August 25, 2016

De La Hoya said it was all about Alvarez not being ready to fight at the full middleweight limit of 160 pounds. When he fought in the middleweight division, it was at a catch-weight of 155, just one pound over junior middleweight.

“I mean, Canelo knows his body,” De La Hoya said. “His trainers know his body, and the bottom line is Canelo is a 154-pound fighter. The fact that he fought at 155, people expect him to go up and fight at middleweight, and that’s not the case. He’s a 154-pounder, and he’s going to go up to 160 when his body feels ready.”

I didn’t call Isal a liar over it. Again, stop making **** up.

Yeah, I was wrong about the date of a quote from 6 years ago, what a shame. There’s also over a year between a proposed GGG/Chavez fight at 168 and talks of catchweight to fight Ward, which is the same **** as far as I’ concerned. I’m not the one getting splitting hairs and getting butthurt over the dates, you are.

So It was claimed by Canelo’s camp that his body wasn’t ready for 160 going into his previous fight to Chavez Jr, timing wasn’t that off after all, It just wasn’t Canelo himself saying it.

Post #58 Called IsaL a liar, a pathological liar in fact :
Post #90 Called IsaL a liar again :
Then you claimed that : “The fight only didn’t happen in 2016 because of the issues about the weight” was a lie, though I've proven that DLH was still making quotes about how Canelo was a 154-lber and how Canelo wasn't going to move up to 160 until his body was ready in August 2016.
Your ignoring the dates of when things were said is how you concluded that Canelo was contradicting himself. You said that you criticized Canelo for saying his body wasn't ready for 160 then moving up to 164 to fight Chavez as if that happened "right after".

That's a massive error on your part, you tried to make it seem like this happened at the same time when it in fact happened a year and a half later after he said that.

With GGG the timing doesn't matter because he was never in the process of moving up in weight like Canelo. GGG as a career Middleweight means that the time that elapsed between the proposed date and it not happening is meaningless since GGG, unlike Canelo, never planned or ended up moving up in weight.

GGG would have never come down for that weight bully little tank.

I did call him a liar, but not over his talks about GGG’s catchweight demands. Which is exactly what I said in my previous post.

Right, when Canelo said that, it was way back in Oct 2015. Not in 2016. Understand why this is important?

DLH was advising him to wait, wait, telling him he's not ready for GGG yet, not ready to move up to 160 yet. By 2016, Canelo was saying I'm ready, but he was thinking maybe I should listen to my team since they're telling me to wait and fight Liam Smith first pick up a 154-lb title then move up. Get it?

Also it made more sense to use the 8 months between Sept 2016 and May 2017 to move up rather than only have like 3 months to move up between his two usual dates May & Sept.

If remember correctly, Canelo predicted a KO in both fights.

Nor should he have to. But you can't accuse Canelo of being a weight bully when he never demanded GGG meet him at a catchweight or refused to fight him at 160. He said back in 2015, IF GGG wants to fight NOW he can meet me at 155, OR he can wait and in 1 or 2 years he'll be ready to fight him at 160. Remember this was BEFORE he was even the WBC MW Champ. This was when Cotto was MW Champ and draining MWs down to Cottoweight. There's a tendancy to gloss over the timing of these statements. They are incredibly important to understand the context of when they were said.

So, in one case what Oscar said incalidates what Canelo said, but It doesn’t have anything to do with him in the other? “LMAO”

    Talk about hypocricy.

Come on Man, lol, stop playing dumb. Canelo as a warrior would fight anyone anytime. He was never afraid of GGG he invited him into the ring after he fought Khan. He had DLH in his ear telling him to wait move up when you're ready. Canelo was like I was born ready, DLH is like no be smart wait. This is not hard to understand. Canelo was like OK fine DLH I'll listen to you, I'll fight Liam Smith for ONE more fight at 154 then I'll move up.

I have been quoted here saying that I would’ve done the same if I was in Oscar’s place, but I think you’re the one who’s struggling as This has nothing to do with the selective catchweight discussion. All I’m saying is you can’t just nitpick and decide when Oscar’s word goes for Canelo depending on which of his word fits your narrative.

In Sept 2016 (the earliest that the fight could possibly happen) Canelo and GGG were fighting at different weights, GGG at 160 Canelo at 154 vs Liam Smith.

This poll and topic is about a potential fight in 2016 at 160-lbs, a weight that at the time favored GGG as that was his natural weight. So why are you focusing on a catchweight? There was never serious consideration of a catchweight, even Loeffler confirmed that it was never on the table.

Canelo was very capable of fighting GGG at 160 in Sept 2016, and it probably would have looked a lot like their 2017 encounter, but it's reasonable for GGG fans to think that GGG would have had a better chance of winning if it happened a year earlier in Sept 2016. For one, Canelo would have rushed into it and would have never fought a true Middleweight before fighting GGG. Also many point to late 2016 as the first time that GGG showed signs of slipping when he fought Brook. So while I'm not surprised at the 53-3 poll thus far, I think it's fair to say that GGG would have a slightly better chance of winning if it happened right then in 2016 instead of 2017. At the same time, if you wanna talk about catchweights, then you'd have to favor Canelo in 2016 if GGG agreed to drain himself fight him at 155 or even 157 or something.

If we're talking about a Sept 2016 fight at 160, and if GGG would have won if it happened then, then you can't criticize DLH as a promoter for advising Canelo to move up when Canelo's body was ready. If this poll is accurate, then it's proof that it would have been foolish for Canelo to rush into a GGG fight in Sept 2016 at 160 before they were ready.

Canelo clearly benefitted from waiting an extra year before moving up, it was very smart to not rush into that GGG fight and instead fight a bigger fighter like Chavez Jr first before GGG. Chavez Jr was the perfect preparation fight for GGG and it gave Canelo the confidence he needed to step into the ring vs a bigger guy like GGG.

Canelo's weight was already up, thats why they put a stop to fight night weights being dispayed because it was clear recorded evidence that they were lying when they said they weren't big enough yet. To this day they don't do fight night weights because it can and will be used against them. They learned their embarrassing lesson. Canelo was losing credibility.
