Yeah, the argument could definitely be made and I'd probably agree with it.

The problem is that fight isn't happening.

And until it does, it doesn't count.

(Golovkin and Kovalev are definitely top 10 p4p. As for Ward's pedigree vs Canelo's, Ward was definitely up there years ago. But he's been too inactive. Impossible to tell his current state. How could taking years off not affect your performance?)

Can you name 10 fighters that have accomplished more recently than Canelo? When you look at his resume and results it is kind of hard to argue against him. It also depends on the criterion for P4P status.

    What has Canelo done??
He let Mayweather dance round the ring like a ballet dancer He got EMBARASSED!!
He argueably lost to both Lara & Trout. Please don't mention his acting like a spoiled child running away from a fight with GGG
Gennady is the Undisputed Undefated Middleweight Champion of the World. Canelo does not deserve a chance at the titles.

If you go by official results he beat Trout, Lara, and Cotto to win the MW belt while he campaigned at 154. I don't agree with the decisions, but as it stands that is what they are.

I must admit...If I had the choice of watching Kovalev V Ward or Canelo V Golovkin....Canelo V GGG would be my choice.!!!!

You compare these blokes to who GGG was fighting at 27 and it's not bad, actually compare them to GGG's current opponents and it ain't bad!!!!

Tom Doran beats everybody on Kell Brooks resume not named Shawn Porter, he'd probably give Porter and Brook a go tbf he would have a good size advantage on both. He's still s a clear step back from Chudinov, Spike and Blackwell.

GGG was a decorated amateur he had no need to learn on the job, CEJ barely had an amateur career.

GG doesn't have the resume for a single win vs Alvarez to make him P4P, it's similar for Nelo, GG would instantly become old and over hyped and his resume would also be a reason a win by Alvarez wouldn't make him P4P #1 imo.

Ward-Kova winner if by dominant fashion or Roman if Gonzalez beats Cudras in the rematch and Inyoue or Estrada in a rematch he should remain #1

I don't like both Kovalev and Ward but I would tend to think that this fight is bigger than GGG-Canelo, which will be a mismatch.

I'll agree with you I'd love to see GGG-Canelo but its going to be a long time coming. Ild Fishnets Oscar wasnts to squeeze every $ he can out of Canelo before his bubble gets burst

I admire fighters like GGG. Kovalev Margarito & Pacquaio because they came up the hard way. No one gave them anything what they've got they EARNED!!!
Ward is living on past glories of 5 years ago. Can he do it today?? We'll see if he shows up to fight Kovalev
Forget Canelo he burned his bridges blatantly ducking GGG
