What an absolutely mouth-watering ( or alcohol slurping) fight this would have been. Styles makes fights and this would be dynamite from the first bell. Two very big fighting egos that would NOT be looking to box for 12 Rnds.

I'm strongly leaning towards the Marvelous one doing a number on Canelo, between rnds 7-9.

This would have been an historical fight for sure.

It should be noted that Canelo rehydrates very quickly.
Hagler weighed in at 157lbs for the Duran fight :)
Hagler didn't beat Canelo, but Canelo, who is 10lbs heavier, could win (they are not the same weight class).

Prime Hagler always had the ability and the answers. Hagler UD.

They aren’t really the same weight class, Hagler would be tiny in today’s middleweight division.
Prime Hagler would jab his head off anyway though.
There are more similarities in GGG to Duran than Canelo, GGG was just old when he fought Canelo.
The Hagler of the Sibson fight would just outbox Canelo, ginger would be exhausted and take a beating in the late rounds. UD Hags, maybe even a corner stoppage

Agree on the second part, but not sure about it being a war, Hagler of the Mugabi fight say was more of a slugger, earlier on he was a pretty quick super smooth boxer-puncher when he needed to be. I reckon he’d give Canelo a lesson rather it being a slugfest.

Hagler by pts in a very good match up.
He would outwork Canelo, who gets caught by all sorts from Hagler.
Canelo would have success though at times.
    Good fight

Hagler makes Canelo’s face look like hamburger. Whether he KO’s him is another matter but he delivers a fearful beating either way.

Maybe, but I think with huge the build up and deep pride mano-mano egos of both men it would catch on fire very early, even if that wasn't the original game plan.

    Fantastic match-up regardless.

Lmao Rocky Fielding had a belt as well champ, its not about that, Duran did nothing at 160 apart from barely edging out Barkley. He wasnt that good at 160, certainly not as good as, say, Saunders was at 168.

Benavidez is a full-fledged LHW now, you guys are bringing up people twice his size to discredit Canelo now. “Real fighter” Haglers best wins are guys smaller than him, while Canelo climbed up 4 weight classes and beat guys like Saunders, Plant, Jacobs, Kovalev and GGG with a noticeable size disadvantage. If Canelo was in Hagler’s time he would move up and try his shot against guys like Eddie Muhammad, and if Hagler was in Canelo’s time he wouldn’t even get up to 168. He is greater and braver than Hagler, deal with it.

    Really? o_O

If so, not anywhere near as much as Alvarez. Marvelous beat 2 of the other 3 Kings. The only guy Saul fought that could compare to any of those was Floyd and he got utterly outclassed. Canelo has moved through weight divisions with questionably "advanced" nutrition and beat up a **** ton of little guys before he ever fought anybody even his own size. He is the fair haired boy of judges and promoters and venues. Beneficiary of various debatable decision "wins".

And the comparison Hagler vs Alvarez vs movers? Please. I think you just didnt't like the post that preceded yours.

Not at all. Having Hagler KO'ing Canelo in the 11th is not a crazy outcome so I wouldn't have a reason to not like that post.

Canelo might get outworked by Hagler and if he turns it up a notch to match Hagler, I can see a tired Canelo getting stopped. Canelo winning a close decision is not crazy to me either. They both will come to fight and Canelo does well vs that type of fighter.

I think it'd be a very good fight.

I still think Hagler's resume is not all that. Old Duran at 160 just isn't a great win to me.

Some people think GGG would lose to Hagler.

No way Canelo beats him. Zero

People forget just how good and awkward a boxer Hagler was, especially in his pre-title reign. That ramrod southpaw jab off the back foot would be absolutely horrendous for Canelo to deal with stylistically.

    Hagler UD.

You do realize that Benavidez and Canelo were at 168 at the same time. Benavidez was calling Canelo out, but for some odd reason Canelo decided to fight Yeldrim. WAR CANELO!!!!!! LOL

And don't give me that jive about DB wasn't deserving or a belt holder bla, bla, bla. Everyone that knew an ioda of boxing knew Canelo and Benavidez were the 2 best in the division. The fight should ave happened.

I'm really curious as to what your thoughts are on Hagler fighting with a retired WW SRL (with detached retina) rather than a 38-0 Herol Graham who was his mandatory for WBA at the time.
