I think Canelo is the more complete boxer and should prevail. Canelo wins 7 rounds to 5 which equals 120-108 on all scorecards.
Despite the 117-111 scorecards that are coming.....this is an even fight. Jacobs is far tougher for Clenelo than GGG in this game of rock, paper, scissors. GGG is no doubt the greater fighter and clearly beat Jacobs, but Danny's skills and physical tools are very wrong for Clenelo. Clen is more skilled but jacobs height, length, movement and propensity to fight off the back foot (with power behind it) making Clen lead is dangerous. Unlike others who think that Jacobs will certainly go for the kill knowing that he'll be screwed by the judges, i think his aim is to fight his fight and get LOUD when the inevitable scorecards roll in. New York media loves him and will push his claim. Guaranteeing him a second fight and payday. This fight is very interesting.
I like Jacobs and would love to see him win this but there's been little hints of vulnerability in his last couple of outings. I have a sinking feeling that the second half of the fight is not going to go well for Danny and Canelo will get a stoppage win. If he does outbox Alvarez, Danny stands no chance on the cards.
Is it? Maybe some are, but not all. Defense Clean punching Effective aggression Ring generalship Did you score defense for Golovkin on a round by round basis?
I`ve heard former boxers talk about clean punching, effective aggression and ring generalship and they are usually very vague, as far as defense is concerned that`s easy, if you get hit more you had a crapper defense simple, no good talking about Canelo`s cleaner punchers AND defense because even if he did land the better shots, his defensive skills weren`t good enough to evade all the jabs GGG landed, the other departments you mention are more complex I agree, but defense is simple.
Come on man, GGG had better defene? lol GGG landed ONLY 2.5 more punches per round, and those punches were jabs, most likely pawing jabs, or measuring jabs. GGG threw more punches and landed at a lower percentage, and most of the punches he did land were the safest punch a boxer can throw, the jab. Canelo ripped GGGs body, and busted his face up bad and outlanded him in power punches, landed at a higher connect rate, and clearly landed the more telling shots more consistently. GGG landed 2.5 more jabs and missed at a higher percentage. If you're trying to argue that GGG had better defense, you're clearly not here to have a serious debate.
The punch stats for the fight were bull**** and the jabs GGG was landing were good shots, but he may have missed more than Canelo so I have to give you that I feel, it was a great fight.
Jacobs has issues landing consistent power shots up stairs when the opponent has any type of head movement.
My prediction is that Canelo wins the decision. We all know that Oscar already has judges in his pocket for Canelo fights, same way Floyd wasn't DQ'd when Roger ran into the ring in the Judah fight. Money gets protected. That being said, boxing wise, Jacobs had a hell of a time landing clean shots on a more stiff, Golovkin. Much of Jacobs' attack was landing on glove and arm. Canelo has develop some slick moves himself, and Jacobs seems to have a bit of a hard time landing flush power upstairs lately. I don't see that changing with this fight, add to the fact that Jacobs hasn't yet shown that he can win the big one. He was content to be able to take Golovkin's power in their fight, but didn't really go all out to try and win it. He won't beat Canelo that way either, as Canelo will have a few rounds of padding from a judge or two.
Jacobs can land good shots from the box squart position but they mightn't get flicked off with head movement like in the Triple G fight. Plenty 3s and 4s instead of straights 1s is the key
