Clenelo didnt have the skill of Hopkins nor the footspeed of Martinez.

Canelo would have A LOT of problems dealing with Pavlik's heavy and consistent jab. And unlike Clenelo, who's a spurt fighter, Kelly could maintain a high workrate and had very good stamina.

I'm sure you expected Pavlik to beat down Hopkins until the fight actually happened.

 

how does canelo win here? he doesn't fight like martinez and he's certainly not hopkins at lhw. he's not going to stop pavlik. if we're talking 26 year old pavlik, which we should be, i really don't see canelo being able to do much except stay away and bore the **** out of the viewers. if he tries to stand in there or even walk pavlik down he's going to get his ass beat.

pavlik gets underrated a lot due to his very public decline from what was a very good, albeit very short, prime. it's his own fault.

I actually think Canelo might win this. Pavlik was not even as good as the old version of GGG that fought Canelo. I think this fight would find Pavlik trying to land a big shot, but not quite getting it. Canelo squeaks by in a close decision over Kelly.

Pavlik was a HUGE Middleweight with excellent stamina,chin, workrate, right hand and jab........Canelo is a midget compared to Pavlik.....the pressure Pavlik would put on Canelo would be immense and Pavlik is not afaid to get hit like the Tomatoe can crusher GGG was......this is a stoppage win for Pavlik, no doubt,.....Pavlik could fight and Pavlik could box when prime........remember it took a prime Light Heavy in Hopkins to beat a Pavlik who was already a severe alcoholic by that time, same against Martinez, the booze destgroyed Pavlik's career, it was short but when on Pavlik was a hell of a fighter.
